Daniel J. Travanti stars as Precinct Captain Frank Furillo, Michael Conrad delivers the show's trademark like “Let’s be careful out there” at the end of every morning roll call, Veronica Hamel and Barbara Bosson are women in Furillo's life, and the squad is filled out by Michael Warren, Charles Haid, Bruce Weitz, Joe Spano, Taurean Blacque, Kiel Martin, Rene Enriquez, Betty Thomas, Ed Marinaro (who joins the cast mid-season) and James B. Sikking.

Update: Tried various viewers and get the same result: Although the quality is quite good, the video is choppy ie: on again off again and the sound gets out of synch failry often.

It's true - the video is choppy and audio gets out of sync often. I've also tried with different players. Unfortunately, it makes it almost unwatchable.

Watched the first 3 episodes so far. Am I the only one who gets repeats of the last scenes of each episodes? No sound problem so far and the quality is that of video-cassettes (VCR).
