these ps3 torrents that are popping all over pbay are all in AAC 5.1 audio format. This is a format that really designed for computer 5.1 set-ups. The ps3 can read it, and play it. However, no home theater receiver can play 5.1 AAC. Some receivers will just play it in pro-logic 5.1 instead automatically, most wont. What you have to do is De-select AAC from the supported audio formats in your ps3 audio settings. And set your receiver to Dolby Prologic 5.1.
When you do this, your receiver decodes it as a 2 channel sound format, and then send it out 5.1 as prologic
If you didnt understand any of that, just de-select AAC from your ps3's sound settings and trust me. And set your receiver to play in prologic for best results
Brickop, I've been doing alot of conversions with handbrake, and I've been doing 2 audio tracks on every conversion. 1 is the 6 channel, the 2nd is pro-logic. The prologic one really does sound better. Most people would bitch and complain though because when the press select on their ps3 controller, it wont say 5.1. even though these 5.1 AAC's arent actually playing in 5.1

teabag i really dont use handbrake anymore for some reason it just seemed to fail out. I use Ripbot which has to be in a 5.1 seting to get 256kb for the sound.

ahem not to sound ignorant ... because i myself have no idea how to even rip a dvd, lol ... but isn't a bitrate of 4.9 Mbps a bit low for a 1080p rip?
what i mean is does the full-HD resolution really pay off with a bitrate that low? the reason i am asking, is because that's the first full-HD movie i see with less than 4 GB of size! usually they are about 8 - 14 GB.

For AAC 5.1 from PS3 you must have a receiver that accepts PCM 5.1 over HDMI.
Alternatively, demux MP4 using MP4Box, remux into MKV using MKVMerge, use Popcorn to convert MKV AAC to MKV AC3, remux resulting MKV from Popcorn into M2TS using TSMuxer.
