Uh, I wouldn't listen to @ultrapiratebuffer's advice. You do not need to run any sort of appzapper etc before installing this.
If you are truly concerned about the space that might possibly be taken up, you will still be able to deal with it AFTER you install.

Wow, I was downloading at over 150kb/sec until around 10% done (est. 9 hr to go), and then I hit a brick wall. Now I'm at 10kb/sec, estimated 5 days.
I hope this speeds up a bit...I've never tried to catch a torrent like this as soon as it was available.

@kexxcream, 4855 downloaders is peanuts for an international company like apple. It takes several 100,000's to millions of downloaders (like during the iphone / mobile me launch) to crash their servers.
@willdrumz, that's simply reality. The torrent is only up for less than 5 hours. Simply not the time yet to get a lot of seeders. Check back again in a few days if you want a smooth, ultrafast download with a lot of seeders.

@Lime6666, yonisyuumei is providing this torrent from his computer. He mentioned he has a 200 kb/s upload speed. There is only a portion of the 4.36GB he can have uploaded in the few hours he has had this torrent up. Since his connection is down and most of the stuff is still on his computers it looks like we are waiting for his connection to come back online again. I personally don't understand why the amount of seeders is 3 (and earlier 9). There is no way yonisyuumei could have uploaded 4.36GB with his 200kb/s connection in such a short period of time. That would take at least 6 hours assuming he is supplying the whole at max upload speed all the time, which is not the case.

ETA is the biggest BS in downloading. It all depends on the moment. I can guaranty you ETA will stay like cr@p until the whole thing has been uploaded by yonisyuumei, which won't happen until comcast fixes his connection. Yeah, 10.77% is the max out now. Downloaded it at about 1.3MB/s until I hit about 10.5% and it started slowing down.
My upload is maxed out at 150KB/s... not that its doing any good. I think I just might disconnect from the torrent, come back later, and then once I get it, seed to 1:1

If anyone else has the install discs and wants to help seed, just do this:
1.) Pop the single-user iLife '09 DVD into your drive
2.) Open Disk Utility
3.) Select the iLife disc in the source list
4.) File > New > Disk Image from [your DVD drive; bottom option]
5.) Choose where to save it, then start the copy. This will take 20-30 minutes
6.) Once it's done, open this torrent and tell it to save in the same spot as the iLife DMG. Make sure it has the same filename: iLife '09 Install DVD.dmg
7.) That should do it. It'll verify that your DMG is the same as mine and start seeding.

This is real. I verified it by mounting the partially-downloaded dmg file and starting the installer.
PLEASE SEED.
FOR PEOPLE WHO ALREADY HAVE THE DVD:

The download speeds are only going to get better the more seeders there are. Hence, if the people now seeding limit their upload to a "few" instead of mass distributing the dmg file, it will take longer. When these "fewer" start seeding more and more will finish their, and so forth. I'm almost at 40% right now.

@john6521: you get that because you are trying to download this file to a FAT32 partition (it's a file system). FAT32 has a per-file limit of 4GB. NTFS support files larger than 4GB. Try to convert your FAT32 to NTFS and you should be good. Just google "convert FAT32 to NTFS".

for those you wondering if this is real - a few people have mounted the partial .dmg and confirmed the version numbers and plist file version numbers are correct.
also, apple was supposed to ship iLife 09 on monday, so if they did, the first people will be receiving their DVDs now... and the iLife page on apple.com now says shipping "within 24 hours".
good enough for me...

I can confirm that the checksum of this torrent matches exactly a north american retail iLife 09 DVD image bought at BestBuy. Asked friend at North Carolina to rip his DVD and calculate the checksum - so its all good. Enjoy people - I'll seed for 48 hours with 2 mb/s

you should customize the settings based on your connection. if you know your speed albeit your download and upload speed. the first thing you want to do is to tweak your upload speed. for example, my upload speed is 512kbps (as in kilobits). divide it by 8 to convert it to kB (kilobytes) then multiply it to 0.7 or 0.8 to set it to a max of 70% or 80% of your max upload speed respectively. if you want utorrent to use up all your download speed you should not limit it. you can tweak the number of connections per torrent utorrent can use. the rule of thumb is upload speed in kB/s then multiply it by 1.3. so mine is set to 65 (but it should be 66.7, i just reduced it to give it a breather), and global connections, multiply the value in per torrent by 4. that's what i changed in mine, and fortunately downloads this torrent at (almost) my connection's max bandwidth.

well, you could start looking at your startup items. that's where the trojan on the iwork 09 was first found (i think), then on the dmg, use pacifist to check each items there. or you can do virus scanning and hopefully detect the trojan. just be vigilant, i say. the thing is we're downloading this from someone in a torrent site. if you don't want to take a risk, then don't download. simple as that.

you can remove the encryption in the preferences pane. in utorrent it's under bittorent, then outgoing encryption. disable radio button is there. the only time you must enable or force the encryption is, say your ISP is blocking or slowing specifically bittorrent connections.

yeah, the best way is to wait it till it finishes. and yeah. utorrent rocks. though it is still in beta, it does wonders already.
and oh about your problem:
well, that's the list or number of possible peers you can connect to. utorrent already sent the download bit into that peer and just waiting for confirmation and data. if the peer that was listed doesn't do anything, your client still waiting for it to connect to it (waiting for a specific time to drop the connection if it remains idle). and with this seeder to leecher ratio, i doubt you can connect to as much as all of those peers.

I've had shocking download speeds now for 24 hours. over night I downloaded 900mb, this morning rebooted and started again to find out I was back to 300mb, since then its taken me all day to get to 440mb. I've changed from Transm. to uTorrent and same thing. the only time I get any sort of speed is when I'm running windows.
My up speeds are at times more than triple the fastest I've got for my dl speeds. at this rate I should have it in 3 weeks time, about when I was planing on buying it anyway.

Oww now it's VERY strange...
Now that i see that only torrents from this site I can't download!!! From others torrents' site I don't have any problem.
But BEFORE the torrents of the thepiratebay worked without a problem in the Transmission.

For all those who have configured port forwarding properly but who have problems with very low download speed: I made an interesting discovery!
According to my provider I have a download speed of 3000 kbit/s (375 kb/s) and an upload speed of 400 kbit/s (50 kb/s). But when the upload speed is higher than 40-45 kb/s something interesting happens: my provider throttles the download speed down to ~10 kb/s! So I set the maximum upload speed to ~40 kb/s and it began downloading continously with ~130 kb/s.

Could anybody help me? I am using Transmission and if I take a look of the options of the torrent the only thing interesting I see is that it doen't get response from the tracker, but I ensure that I have other torrents from same tracker.

I think it´s your 400G driver that is that main issue.
Because the file doesn´t matter at all. It´s just a normally file so it´s your driver that is the issue. You probably don´t have space for the file. Try to but something else on the driver.
If it doesn´t work, just tell me and I´ll try to solve it!

If your drive is formatted for PC (FAT32), the max file size is no bigger than 4G. You said it worked with another 5G file. Was that a single 5G file or a download from bittorrent? I ask because they often come as rars so several files might make up for the 5G size.

I agree with gerkin above. You shouldn't have problems downloading a torrent with over 3000 seeders unless your ISP is throttling your BT traffic. If you know you are not throttled, check your network settings (e.g., make sure the router is forwarding the port properly).
Also, a note about trojans: There is no way to figure out if a release is clean or not unless you compare the checksums to a known clean DVD image. You can't guarantee the trojan author is dumb enough to write the same trojan with the same name and same mechanism. And even if you remove the trojan from the package or remove an installed trojan program, who knows what it did to the other files in your computer? What if the trojan program modifies the DNS library to give out false results, or if it secretly tunnels into a port and sends every keystroke? Ok, I'm not trying to make a scare scenario here but just be aware that anything can happen once you enter that password and you let the trojan program get admin rights. The best course of action is to backup your important files and re-install OSX.
And btw, this is a clean release, with the md5 sum matching the retail version.

It took me more than 3 days to get it but I have it now and it works just like any app you buy.
You'll find that out of the blue your speeds will pick up.
I'm seeding when I can, I have to use windows for my horse racing stuff during the days but I'm seeding overnight.
By the way, faces is a little hard to get going, but after a bit of training it starts to work great.

No, you need a number that came on the box to register it (we don't have that number). Registering is pointless, so don't bother. Updates are included for free :)
You can re-install iMovie '08 (and the rest of iLife '08) by inserting one of the Leopard discs that came with your Mac (or an iLife '08 disc if you bought it separate).

it should be under Applictions -> iLife '09 (Folder) -> iPhoto, Garageband, iMovie, etc.
It's like with iWork, it puts the suite into a folder under your applications folder.
if it isn't there, try reinstalling iLife '09 from the .dmg file.

C_Cooper, your torrent software might have missed a few bits of this torrent. There's a bunch of reasons why this could have happened. Try and do a "force recheck" if your downloading software has that sort of this. I know Vuze/Azerus does.

Alright I need some serious Help please. I left the program downloading all last night, I have like 110 hosts. And the speed is pretty stable its running at around 50 kb/s.
However it has stayed at 99% for about two hours now, when it took like fifteen minutes to get 1% through.

Why is it that when I download this on my PC, burn the DMG to a disc, and try to install it on my g/f's iMac (intel, 10.5.6) it won't read the disc? I have tried converting the DMG to ISO via PowerIso's 'Convert' option, I've tried burning the DMG directly to a disc, everything. The first way, disc gets spit out. 2nd way, trying to mount the DMG, it says the file is an unrecognized image. What gives?
Also when I convert from DMG to ISO, I see folders in the ISO that aren't visible in the DMG. Something about Apple Protected something...

To all the suspicious. I downloaded this yesterday in 6 hrs (thanks to all seeders) and just installed it today on my MacBook Pro - Intel 2.16 Core Duo OSX 10.5.7. Perfect install with no issues whatsoverver. I downloaded the torrent file using Azuruez. To install simply double click on the .dmg file and let it open (this will take around 20 minutes), once it opens double click on "ilife instal" and you're done.
MAKE SURE you check for updates once downloaded, there's about 900 mb's in updates through apple.

Works great, ignore the spam comments asking for a serial number as this requires no serial number. All you do is mount and install. Yes, you can update via software update fine. Kudos to yoniyummei

To clear a few things up for everyone.
First, installed great, and speedy... thanks to all the seeders!
Second, there is NO SERIAL NEEDED; INSTALL AND UPDATE AS NECESARY
Third, TROJAN FREE, checked it with pacifist, and installed on my own computer to test it (you're all welcome :D ), also little snitch caught nothing trying to connect that shouldn't have, so congrats and ty to yoni for the upload.

Works perfectly, simple install (no instructions icluded nor needed), and NO SERIAL (included nor needed).

Can someone please help me here? I tried installing the iLife '09 dmg, but when it finishes it says the installation failed, and there were errors. I tried manually installing bits via viewing the package contents but it says i need to be running OSX 10.5.something and I have Snow Leopard :S

Hey guys,
I neeeeeeeeeed help!!!!
I have everything needed in order for iLife09 to work on my computer. I installed it and it told me to restart then after the restart nothing comes back up asking to finish the install. And when opening any of the iLife08 stuff that I have it is still 08 and not 09. Someone please help!!!
