I love populous :P its a very good game with lots of things 2 do and the spells are awsome >.< i just love to fire some fireballs at the little bastards.
thou my favorite is Ragnarök, just the best frikkin spell the game got >.<
hope there are som other people who like this game as much as i do, its simple but funny, you dont need great graphics for a game to be good :P

I can't unzip/extract any files... It worked the first time.. but then I fucked up everything, so I deleted everything and startet all over again. But now nothing works... I dont understand... :/

This game is great. If you use a cheat for max manna you can make an army of angels od death. then let them do all the fighting for you. my favorite is the volcano spell.

just mount with Daemon Tools or a similar program
then open the disc and install the setup.exe file
then install the patch for the game
then install the add-on "Undiscovered Worlds"
then install the patch for the add-on
have to note though that whilst i was playing the add-on and tried to switch to my windows desktop using 'alt+tab' the system immediately responded with a blue screen error and rebooted straight after that
so it might be a good idea to just save your game and then exit it via the menu and start the game back up when you're ready to avoid this failure

i dont know if it works but it works for me , i installed nvidia physyx, and it works perfect on win 7, i just opened the populous beginnen map, installed the game using setup did the patch and it worked perfect, lets drown some poeple shall we? mwhoehahaha

Shame that they dont make more games like this were you can control envierment but not the people they should make one when they like live in jungle you make the terrain they like hunt and fish build little villages but dont advance in technogoly more then like to stoneage and they populate over the world you make

Just got this working on Windows 7!
1. Installed using Daemon tools mounting the "Populous The Beginning.iso" file
2. Patched with "populous The Beginning_Updatepatch.exe"
3. Patched with "Populous Undiscovered Worlds_Addon.exe" (... also tried patching with "Populous Undiscovered Worlds_Updatepatch.exe" as well but didn't work, oh well)
4. Run "D3DPopTB.exe"
Alternative extra steps to fix up the screwed up colour for Windows 7:
5. Create a new text document anywhere
6. Edit it and paste in
"taskkill /F /IM Explorer.exe
H:/D3DPopTB.exe
Start explorer.exe"
*** but replace 'H:/' with whatever the mounted drive is for your .iso ***
7. Save the file as "D3DPopTB.bat"
8. Run the game via this .bat file

Wow, I've never even knew there was an expansion to Populous: The Beginning and I've been playing since 2002. I been playing it for years, heck I played it a few hours ago! And now that I found this, I have even more of a reason to play it again. to fix the colors in this game you need something that is called DirectPlay(.exe/dll/something) atleast thats what windows 8 downloaded and i play with normal colors and the game runs fine. PopTbd3d doesnt work anyway since the file that supports it is either oudated cause of newer hardware...
