The R5 is a retail DVD from Indian subcontinent, Africa, North Korea, Russia and Mongolia. R5 releases differ from normal releases in that they are a direct Telecine transfer of the film without any of the image.
And yes the encoding process has a big importance in the quality. Says in the notes cam audio..
