Smashes, Thrashes & Hits is a greatest hits album by the American hard rock band Kiss. It was the third hits album overall but the second such album released by the band in the United States (Killers was not released in the United States originally). Of the 15 songs on the album, two were new compositions and three were released after the band's unmasking in 1983. The remaining ten were all released during the band's years in makeup.
It was certified 2x Platinum on February 26, 1996, when it sold 2,000,000 copies, Kiss' only album of the non-makeup era to achieve that RIAA status officially.
The two new songs on Smashes, Thrashes & Hits were "Let's Put The X In Sex" and "(You Make Me) Rock Hard," which feature the same polished production style as 1987's Crazy Nights. They were both produced and co-written by guitarist/vocalist Paul Stanley, and were accompanied by videos that received moderate airplay on MTV.
Nearly all of the songs recorded by the band's original lineup were altered in one way or another. One song, "Beth," was re-recorded with lead vocals by then-drummer Eric Carr, who had replaced the original drummer Peter Criss in 1980.
In 1983, Kiss abandoned its makeup and enjoyed a commercial resurgence throughout the rest of the decade. Buoyed by a wave of Kiss nostalgia in the 1990s, the band announced a reunion of the original lineup (with makeup) in 1996. The resulting Kiss Alive/Worldwide/Lost Cities/Reunion Tour was the top-grossing act of 1996 and 1997. Criss and Frehley have since left Kiss again and have been replaced by Eric Singer and Tommy Thayer, respectively. The band continues to perform with makeup, while Stanley and Simmons have remained the only two constant members.
Kiss was named by VH1 as 10th on their list of the '100 Greatest Artists of Hard Rock' and 9th on 'The Greatest Metal Bands' list by MTV. On 23 September 2009, Kiss was nominated for the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, ten years after becoming eligible but on December 15th 2009 it was announced that Kiss did not make it into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame.

Does anyone have a collection of all the KISS music videos? I mean the music promo vids from the 70s till the most recent? There was a bootleg DVD around at one time that was excellent, but I can't find anywhere.

2nafish! I have checked the quality... Can you tell, don't you have these 3 videos (also "Reason To Live" and "Turn On The Night") even better quality? It seems like you have ripped these videos from better source, and your rips are just rips.
That's why the quality here is good but not very much ahead of quality in versions I had from VHSrips.
I'm looking for these videos in full DVD quality (pic 6000-8000 Kbps instead of your 3000-4000 Kbps) - that's for my Monster Videography of Kiss...

for kvestantin: I don't have those videos right now at 8000kbps although I could redo them at 8000kbps. I made a 4000kbps and an 8000kbps of "Unholy" and compared them and I couldn't tell any difference in picture quality. If I did these 3 videos over again I don't know if that would make any difference.kvestantin (2010-01-27)
2nafish! Thanks for answering! You said you can redo these clips... Can you just tell please - redo from what source? This is what I would like to know, if possible. What was the source from which you can make 8000 kbps or 3000-4000 kbps?
Speaking honestly I am looking not for the bitrate fugures of course. But for the picture of MAXIMUM quality. And the maximum quality is always in the original source, before all the transitions and ripping this source to new files or formats. Maybe I could try to find these source files also, if you tell where they come from.
