I have the same 60% issue, using 7zip and the setup.bat supplied. I have tried the ctrl+c skip and that has left me with a copy that will load perpetually on the first loading screen.
If anyone has any other ideas that'd be nice.
(I'm trying this same .zip out on another computer to check whether it's an issue with just my PC atm)

This game is awesome. My only gripe, blame it on the developers, is that it supposedly requires a 512mb GPU to run @ 1280x1024 but still I'll be sure to buy this.
The rip is great, can't believe you guys cut the size down to ~2gigs. Took less than 5 hours to download, considering the number of leechers.

For those of you still not able to run the extraction process, download the setup bat on page to in the comments (if you dont already have it). Then right click it and choose edit from the menu.
Look for this part right after the asci stuff,

simply remove this text, then the "release art/music/text flying" shite wont open, voila, you can finaly start the install.

This game is a Giant turd in my eyes. I enjoyed the first hour or so then I became plan to see that it is just a beat um up. You can beat this game if you know the difference between the left and right mouse button. many have compared it to spiderman I can see how they would but there is no web slinging and thats the thing that made spiderman so great. The feeling of freedom is there you can go anywhere but you find your self cursing the game after the 15th time you've crossed the city to get your next mission. Also, The control system is unresponsive at best and down right restricting at its worst. It also breaks the cardinal rule imho for these types of games(free roaming with super human abilities) the game takes control of your character at every opportunity. You will often be just watching when the real action takes place and this is often. Its also embarrassingly easy with hundreds of people roaming the streets(to consume for health) even at the very height of the outbreak. Oh theres more. Like many beat um ups you can get away with using the same combo you start out with with no real reason to upgrade other then making the game even easier. It also reeks of a obvious console port which it is. Its "quick menu" and very sparse options to tone down the Hdr/bloom ,in fact you cant turn it off, and they got a bit carried away with the partical effects which serve more to block your view of the action then add to the realism of the game. without these the game would look very dated so maybe that is the reason the option wasn't included.

This game makes me think why dont these game companies just share their textures so they can squeeze out a turd yearly instead of every 4 years.

This game is awesome! Elbow dropping from the top of the Empire State Bldg to sprinting around Manhattan carrying a taxi and using it as a battering ram. Some missions are quite frustrating though.

Okay, I am still having the same problem, and it looks like quite a few others are having it too. Haven unzipped and extracted no worries, but when I run the game it always quits. If i move my mouse while menu loading, it quits. Try and escape through the start vids, it quits. Start a new game, it quits. Every time it takes me back to desktop, with ye olde "Prototype.exe has encountered a problem and needs to close... Send Error Report/ Don't send". I have a 512 Mb 8500 GT and 3 GB of DDR2 ram. I have updated all drivers, made it Windows Xp Pro Service Pack 3. Have DX 9.0c. Everytime the same problem happens. Others have had this problem but I have found no solution. When i try to run the game from the shortcut a box pops up about Parental Control and me not having permission to play games with these ratings. Hey man, first of all thanks a million to the uploader. The game works fine, however there is some issue I have been encountering off late; the game crashes at times, also, there have been occasions when it caused my system to abruptly restart. Also, at times, when a new game is loaded, it freezes and crashes. I know for sure that my rig is capable of running this game, also I have latest drivers and updated direct x version for this game. Any advise would be greatly appreciated, I can still play the game, however as it crashes in the middle of a stage an you can never quick save in this game(it employs a check point saving system), it had me playing similar events over and over again, a bit frustrating. Great game though :-)

everything is working fine the game , the audio all good ...BUT
i m stuck at the second stage where alex mercer gets and runs from the black force. The exact point is when he carries the car and u get a tutorial window telling u how to aim using tab button and all , after exiting the tutorial window
