Older macs won't run latest versions. Lack of ram or processor speed, or in case of 10.6.2 no power-pc processor macs can run it only newer intel machines. Also 10.4 was the last version to support classic mode for running pre-OS X apps.Some apps or app version are incompatible with 10.5 or 10.6. I could go on but the point is made
