Description:
In the fall of 1971, Led Zeppelin spent several weeks in Japan, drinking sake, shopping for antiques and samurai swords, visiting houses of ill repute and getting banned from the Tokyo Hilton for life. While they were plundering an entire island nation, they did find time to play a few shows, most notably the last night of what seems to have been an excellent time spent. Osaka. September 29, 1971.
I try not to spoil these shows with a full writeup. I'm listening to the show now, and a few things stand out - Robert is very talkative, and speaks slowly so that the few English speakers in the audience understand. The crowd is very polite - at one point before Stairway, Robert mentions (complains?) about the audience being so quiet.
There are enough rarities here to make this worth collecting - legendarily "Smoke Gets In Your Eyes" and quite a Whole Lotta Love medley. The sound is what I would call very good to excellent AUD - I boost everything from 1k up to about 8dB, and boost as needed with the 60hZ slider.
I always kinda considered this a must-have. I'm pretty sure it's got the most complete WLL, Thank You and Rock and Roll of any release of this date. Throw in a particularly good night for John Bonham, one of the most relaxed Jimmy Page performances ever IMHO, and Plant in great voice for the last night of a tour.

Our hero TimD does it again! He gives us a bit of rock history, this time a Led Zep show from Japan 1971. If you ask me, the concerts the boys did in Japan this year are among the group´s highlights of their career. This one is a bit special for me. I have an old vinyl record entitled, I think, "A Cellarful Of Noice" that contains some of the songs from this night. But here we all get the whole f-n show!Musically, all the four guys are in splendid form. But we are talking 1971 here, aren´t we? And "Dazed And Confused" features a part that is quite interesting. It starts 18 minutes into the song and goes on for about two minutes. I don`t recognize this part, maybe some of you other guys does?
