This is tragically hilarious. Basically, it is a documentary about a mentally unstable man trying to commit suicide, and failing again and again. Most of these suicide attempts are documented by himself on camera, as well.
All the footage of Treadwell with bears is hilarious. He speaks about how he has to 'stand his ground' and be 'tough' around bears to survive, and yet whenever a bear approaches him he starts squeaking and whimpering like a scared cat.
He is totally oblivious to his own hypocrisy, and the difference in his words and his actions. Many times he speaks to the camera and contradicts himself in consecutive sentences.
But there's a happy end, the man got his wish in the end! He even got to feed a bear. Sadly the bear did not get to digest the meal completely.
Will be seeding this for a long time. Very "educational".

Although it is not stated in the film, it was Leonardo Di Caprio who funded Treadwells expeditions. Di Caprio must have some humor as he pays an apparent mad man to sneak into a nature reserve to try to hug Kodiak bears.
And about the debate above. I haven't seen a CD in 15 years. Do you people still burn films on CDs? Which country do you live in? Afganistan?

I absolutely adored this movie. I'm a massive fan of the Alaskan wilderness and bears and have a great love of animals and this movie was utterly amazing. Treadwell loved animals so much so that every essence of him was pouring with it. He reminds me a lot of myself, I love animals so much that sometimes I may seem mad to an observer with the way I go on and on talking to them and telling them how cute and beautiful they are and telling them over and over that I love them so much. But this DOES NOT mean he is mad, he simply has an extreme passion for animals, one of which I share and can understand where he is coming from. It's a tragically beautiful tale!
