iv got and ipod touch 1st gen and have latest itune but cant put apps onto it so i downloaded this cause thats what the message said so once i have downloaded this torrent what do i do

Here are more complete instructions for using this firmware:
1. get latest release of iTunes
2. Plug in Ipod touch
3. In iTunes, under the iPod's summary tab - Hold the 'shift' key and press the 'restore' button
4. find where you downloaded the firmware and iTunes will use it to restore your ipod to that version.
You could also this with a program like quickpwn to jailbreak your ipod - http://www.quickpwn.com/
