you can shrink down a DVD on a PC with DVDShrink here
and on a Mac you can use Handbrake, it's converts to mpeg4 even if it has macrovision protection.
Handbrake is available for PC as well here

Good copy, but the spoken Chinese is only subbed to English at the beginning of the movie. The rest of the movie has Russian subs, but no English, so you have no idea what the Chinese are saying after the first quarter. I have mixed feelings about this movie. I had a hard time believing an actor who looked almost as Brandon Fraser was suppose to be his son in the movie. There was just no chemistry between anyone in that family. I wish the dialogue had actually been witty, instead of being barely above the level of "See Spot Run". The action was fun though, and the story wasn't bad.

When The Mummy Returns came out 2 years after the original I never understood why they suddenly had a 10 year old son. Now seven years later the kid is in college and looks to be in his early 20's. Brendan Fraser is in his late 30's and his charactor should be the same age. Why would they choose to make him seem old by portraying the charactor of his son as a adult? The new lady playing his wife sucks too. This is the worst trilogy ever.

I'm very impressed by the quality of this telesync being that the movie just came out. The quality is almost as good as VHS ( for those kiddies out there, VHS was before DVD :D ) with only lighting and sound holding it back. I recommend using VLC player for this so that when you download a third part subtitle file, you just go into Preferences/ Video / Subtitles/OSD and hit browse for where the file is on your hard drive and it will load the subtitles when you play the movie. Remember to clear that field when you are donw watching or it will open for any other movie you play with VLC.

If you have an Nvidia card ( I'm using 8800 gts ) you can go into the nvidia control panel and click adjust video image settings. For this movie you want to have 100% noise reduction which clears out a lot of the image artifacts and really smoothes out the image quality. Also when using VLC go to post processing and make sure it's at 6 ( the max ). Hope this helps those with a similar set up.

I wouldn't waste burning the calories to type a response simply to state what I said above... why waste energy to state the obvious.
How I felt after wasting 2 hours on the Mummy: This was one of the worst movies I have seen in a while... and this is coming from a fan of the first two movies. The first thing that got me was when they decided it was OK to remove the Egyptian theme from the plot. Secondly, Evelyn "Evie" was replaced by a really annoying lady with a bad accent who's personality is nothing like the REAL characters. Lastly, and by far most importantly was the fact that Rick's "Brendan Fraser's" son seemed to be about 10 years younger than him which really made the plot unbelievable and was in your face throughout the movie.
The movie is ridiculously unbelievable with a silly plot and shallow characters that do not resemble the initial characters even a bit. They had set out to change something that was already great, which in my opinion is fool hearty. They should have stayed true to the original theme and overall feel of the movie... it had a really cheap feel throughout the entire movie despite the extremely good special effects. Without a strong plot effects are just like eating cake icing without any actual cake... overbearing and can only be enjoyed in VERY small portions.
In contrast, I highly recommend checking out the new Batman. That was a FREAKING great movie. Though it would have been better in my native language even understanding 80% I enjoyed it 100%.

If you are a newbee in this world, just as I was a month ago, you may be helped to know some ways to get a nice DVD.
1. Superb
An ISO file. This is an exact bit by bit copy of the original DVD (an it has the same size, so a lot of downloading).
The handling is very simple: use Nero, backup's, burn an image (that's the ISO file) to disc. Done? Then you have a DVD with all menus, subtitles and spoken languages.
2. Very good
Not so difficult at all, you have just to know. Make a directory (like MOVIE-XXX) with two subdirectories: one AUDIO_TS (leave it complete empty) and one VIDEO_TS (put all te files in it). Usually VOB (Video OBject ? the movie itself), IFO (InFOrmation like audio & subtitle info) BUP (BackUP ? reserve IFO). Remark: names of subdirectories must be in CAPITALS. Run DVD Shrink, point to the directory MOVIE-XXX), select backup and you have the complete DVD with all adds.
3. Good
Often you get DIVX files. The size about 800 Mb gives an idea of low resolution. Nope, it means very good compression. Import in in Nero and it explodes to 4.5 Gb of good quality. However after a succesfull burning session: no subtitles. Play it at your PC, no subtitles. Often you get a small file with a RAR extension. First find the WINRAR software. Not at a commercial site (only 30 day usage or so), just with ThePiratebay or Isohunt. WINRAR is like ZIP, a packing/compressing program. Unpacking gives you two files, one .sub and one .idx. Both must have the same name as the video file an must be in the same directory. So Movie.avi, Movie.sub and Movie.idx in one dir. Now you have subtitles when playing the movie at your PC. Still not on DVD. If your lucky, the seeder gave you a .srt
Must be in the same dir as the avi (give it the same name as the .avi, just to be sure). Don't use Nero, however ConvertXtoDVD. First download this from Piratbay/Isohunt (else you get an nice logo "buy this software" in your movie). Point ConvertXtoDVD to the appropriate directory and burn. You get a kind of menu when playing the DVD at your TV to make choices for spoken and subtitle languages.
Waouw, mustn't get worse!
If didn't get a .srt file, you may find it at opensubtitles. Be aware: sometimes it is not sunchronized with your movie. The more the file name looks like your avi filename, the bigger the chance it is in sync.
4. Improve your knowledge of the spoken English
5. Forget all other types of files, takes a lot of time, offers only a bad mood.
Tip: buy an rewritable DVD, experiment, if the result is satisfying, make a diskcopy with Nero.
Software
Nero - use version 7, performs everthing, not heavely protected like version 8.
RAR - kind of packing software like ZIP
Vobsub - display subtitles when playing at your PC (run it once, kind of codex add-on to your mediaplayer)
DVD Shrink
ConvertXtoDVD - very usefull tool to get subtitles into your movie
