there is a virus in disk one/crack. but u can get around it. after installed delete disk one, mount disk 2. then play.

game works perfectly.(thanks thenoobish) keygen included in crack folder yes your anti virus will give a warning but that is the nature of cracks keygens
mount iso 1 in daemon tools. when asked copy/paste key generated by keygen,install will continue, when asked mount iso 2 install will finish. copy/paste crack from iso 1 to game folder. play game.

Right, the virus found on this download IS the keygen. It hacks the game to find a valid password, Just turn off your Anti-virus for a half hour to install. As it goes i have installed it , but when i try to play it it asks me to insert the disc. WHAT DO I DO NOW?

Key posted by nightraven in the comments section works, so you don't have to use the keygen which shows up as a virus.
I'm aware that some things show up as false positives, but I'd rather circumvent using something that shows up as a false positive anyway.
I've had cracks/keygens show up as trojans/viruses/whatever in the past and I've ALWAYS been able to look around and find a version that didn't make my anti-virus think it was malicious, so caveat emptor.

I downloaded this and was really exited to play it again, BUT when i start the game i get a "direct sound error" and everyone can spare me the talk about getting newest drivers for everything etc cause everything is up to date. Any1 else had the similar problem cause i just cant play the game at all :S
Btw using Windows Vista Server dont know if it would make any diffrence what so ever but ye.. very grateful for all the help i can get, thanks in advance // GrM

Torrents work fine, reached last boss on my old system, but he kept killing me though =P
However, I do have a problem now, I switched to Ubuntu, and have read that the game is supposed to work under wine, even with the crack. However, after cracking it the usual way, in wine, it still gives me the "insert CD" message!
Any ideas how to solve this?
(am a bit of a noob with wine, and this is the first game I ever tried to crack under Ubuntu...)

safe way: open the iso with winrar and delete the keygen and mount the iso , google for megaman x8 key, and install, crack (if needed) , play !

@anthonymesakh You could not be more ignorant. Keygens are not viruses, They are false positives. Googling a key just wastes more time.

I have just downloaded and installed. The game works perfectly and there is no virus.
When it asks for a CD-Key, open the iso for disc 1 and in the "Crack" folder will be a key-gen (which is what's setting your antivirus off, but it's not harmful).
Next, once it's completely installed, go back to the same crack folder on disc 1 and copy the rockmanx8 file. Paste it into the folder the game installed to on your PC. When it asks to overwrite, click yes.
DONE!

Thanks. For me on windows 7 x64, "data execution prevention" was what this game didn't like.
BTW if you guys didn't know. these iso's are from the Japan PC release. It's why English mode has the cooler US logo, not that boring PAL logo.

Does anyone know why I can't move the crack MEGAMANX8.exe to the installed folder?
It says I need permission from everybody to move it.
I've tried to find ways to get permission but it's not helping.

Hi thenoobish, I just wanted to say thank you for bringing all of these great games to PB. I have a MAC and there aren't too many games outside of yours.
I was curious, would you be able to upload either Soul Reaver or Soul Reaver 2 for MAC? I saw one on here a few months ago but it didn't work. Thanks a lot and keep up the good work!

I mounted the files and when i open it a small window opens with the options :Play rockman
Uninstall
Readme etc.
When i chose play it says wrong disc inserted

to fix the insert disc error, you have to mount disc 1 with poweriso or a similar program and then run megamanx8.exe.
