This movie is singing all the time, I knew it was a musical but I didnt know it was singing 90% of the time. I thought it would be more like Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, with some musical elements. So I just want to warn everyone. I warn those who are not sure how much singing it is. I am not a big fan of musicals, singing halts the movie and its quite annoying. But for you singing fans out there, you will be happy!

Warning! This movie is a musical and incredibily lousy. Not worth the download. I deleted it as soon as Johnny D. starting singing his lines in the opening sequence. Only the English could make a movie this bad. I pity the poor suckers who paid $10 in the movie theatre hoping for a gory slasher flick, but got Mary Poppins instead. At least that movie had a plot. I was hoping it was as good as Charlie & the Chocolate Factory, but guess again.

um ddrax, maybe you should have WATCHED THE WHOLE THING douchebag. it's not mary poppins, it's probably one of the most gruesome and gory movies i've seen in a long time. there's even a whole song as johnny depp sings he slashes throat after throat, it's pretty funny actually. and charlie and the chocolate factory was awful, god those terrible oompa loompa songs drove me crazy. this is a million times better. yes there is singing almost 99% of the time but the story is great and the visuals are stunning and haunting.
so try and watch an entire movie before calling it lousy you dick.

Oh please, musical-haters, spare us the comments. It's all fine to warn people that it's 90% singing, but saying shit like: "I saw 10 seconds, and there was singing, therefore it's bad" is ignorant, and a prove of imbecility. How can you tell a movie is bad from 10 seconds? I love this movie, saw it twice in the cinema, and bought the soundtrack. If you don't mind good music and a endearing recreation of the old London, i highly recommend it. 9/10

This torrent is likely a recode of the pukka file(s), and almost 600mb smaller, hence the lower quality. I would recommend nothing less than the pukka torrent as it is of very high quality, both audio and video. You may join the two pukka files to create one, using simple and widely available software. Look in the comments section of the torrent you link for the information if you would like to do so.
Does this file retain the ac3 audio from the pukka torrent? This would be good information as you may wish to keep audio integrity since this is indeed a musical.
Good observations, however. I commend you on this mildly intelligent, if not somewhat naive, input. Much better than a discussion of sucking balls, and such.

I found this movie... lacking.
I am a fan of both Johnny Depp and Tim Burton, but this film just didn't do it for me.
This is to say nothing about the technical audio or video quality of the film.
My recommendation if you want to watch a Musical is to watch "The Music Man" instead.
Seeing Marla Singer from the movie "Fight Club" was kind of cool, though.
I hope she gets more parts. Definitely a good actress.

I think it's a good thing that everyone's a critic, and recommend other torrents that may be similar to the one in question. So good tips are appreciated, tnx Dogno7.
On the other hand, I agree that ddrax's ability to spot the plot within seconds after JD has opened his mouth is quite astonishing, and very much questionable.

Agreed, this is definitely worth going to the theatre for. I saw it there first, and downloaded this so that I could watch it more before the DVD comes out.
This is one of the few movies lately that has made me smile. Sure, I laugh at stoner comedies, but that is a different kind of enjoyment. When Sweeney Todd first started singing it actually made me smile, and I didn't really stop smiling the whole movie (except for the parts with cannibalism, of course).
Definitely recommended, and the quality of this release is excellent. It has "For award consideration ONLY" appear at the bottom of the screen a few times, but it isn't distracting and only proves that this is really a DVD rip.

Video 9/10 nearly perfect on a computer but when burnt to a dvd and put on a tv screen it is a little ruff.
Audio 10/10 on a computer but when burnt to a dvd it is fairly quite.

Wow, there seem to be a lot of opinions here, and much in dispute...
Setting the record straight here: YES, IT IS A MUSICAL.
YES, THEY ALL SING A LOT!!!!
That being said, this is just as brilliant as you might have expected from Tim Burton. Incredible story, steeped in foggy old time legend, with enormous attention to the sets and costumes, with some unbelieveable acting work by Mr. Depp and Mrs Bonham-Carter.
I'm not a musical fan myself, and honoustly despise those touchy-feely musicals of old.
But a wor to the wise may be imparted: shame on you who deleted the file once you heard the first note in the opening act: the singing for once never halts the movie, is an integral part of the storytelling, and is - amazingly - quite good on its own.
Download it, watch it, LOVE IT!
PS saw it on the big screen with a ladyfriend tonight: absolutely rocks!

Just for everyone complaining about the music, this movies was originally an stage operetta (similar to and opera but with some spoken lines but mostly all song). You can probably still find the video of the stage version on the internet somewhere, I had to watch it in high school, 12 years ago. I think it had Angela Lansberry in it. My main point being, IT IS SUPPOSED TO BE 99% SONG, THAT?S KIND OF THE POINT. After all, what do you expect from Johnny Depp, a normal slasher film?

I just started downloading, but I am not here right now to say anything about the quality of it, but rather yet, to tell people to stop complaining about this movie being horrible because its a musical.
