This movie is hardly a cult classic. The original 1942 version is. This newer version has the beautiful Nastassja Kinski, Malcolm McDowell, and some striking visuals but that is about it. The original Val Lewton classic had mood, atmosphere, plus the horror was suggested instead of in your face. This version has none of those qualities. Everything about this film is superficial.
