11,000+ Project Gutenberg ebooks for Sony Reader (.lrf)

I found a script that can turn Gutenberg HTML files into well-formed BBeB (.lrf) files suitable for the Sony PRS-500 and PRS-505 reader devices (and hopefully retaining the images and chapter bookmarks). So I automated it to pull in all the books I could, cleaned them up a little, removed the magazines, and added a sprinkling of Creative Commons SF authors, and here we are. Some 7.5 Gb of books. Since this was an automated process I am sure there are mistakes, omissions, and malformatted files, but the files I have spot-checked looked fine. @EvilEyeUK: Sorry, I deleted the HTML source files after I was done, as you can already get them from both Gutenberg itself, and from the Gutenberg DVD which is floating around as a torrent here and there.

WinRAR seems to have trouble extracting this. I used 7-Zip and it seemed to work fine. Just leaving this note here in case others were having problems.

I spoke too soon. 7-Zip appears to unzip properly, but then nothing appears in the folder I unzip it to. Was anybody actually able to unzip this?

Spent ages downloading this but Winrar shows errors when I try to open the file - any ideas anyone - what a waste of time!!!

Sorry about my last comment - I have extracted the files using WinZip and only a few files were corrupt which did not effect the rest of the files - great share!!! - would appreciate any more modern stuff

Anyone needing to convert these (or almost any) files to a format you can read on your PSP, Iliad, etc. Use Calibre. Just Google it and d/l. It's free and works magic. The only thing that needs to be changed is under 'Preferences'. Select your output format, add books, edit, and then format E-books. Upload to your device and you're good to go.
