Just to be clear - this is dual audio - you can select the audio track using your media player - VLC for example you just hit the Audio menu, hit track and select Eng.
It DEFAULTS to Russian, so each time you open it, it will be Russian - you just change it.
If you want English to be the default you can use tools like MKVToolnix.
Lastly - surrational - you need to pipe down and stop getting shirty with other people on TPB. You are also incorrect - the audio is in Russian AND English. Flying off the handle at people for asking questions is not warranted.

I know my way around a computer pretty well, but don't exactly know everything about different formats. I usually just download everything in divx or xvid or whatever plays on my ps3. (seeing as my cpu is a piece of medieval crap.) But in this case I am trying to grab something interesting for my bedridden grandparents and none of you in the know have anything to say except ridicule for people who don't. What's the goddamn point of a social site if nobody is willing to help the people who don't know as much? Oh shit, heres a tip.
If you are using uTorrent.
Under Preferences>Bandwidth
Global maximum number of connections:500
Maximum number of connected peers per torrent: 500
And it helped increase the speed.
I went from 1-2mbit to 3-5 mbit.
I have a 6mbit connection.
only 750kbps up tho :(.
I wish I had found that out 6 hours ago when I started downloading this torrent...........

If any of you have problems watching HD mp4 or mkv files such as this one.
And you already tried VLC media player then:
Download and install K-Lite Codec pack (Mega)

It includes media player classic which is very light on cpu power.
If you have Win 7 make sure you enable the DivX H.264 decoder.
After install under tools folder open Win7DSFilterTweaker.
Change decoders from 'microsoft' default option.
That's the key to playing back HD videos.

I've download this in about 12h at 1 Mb/s. But the quality isn´t native 1080p. I think it is upscalled from 720p. In MEDIA PLAYER ALTERNATIVE both audio and subtitles are in English.

I got hold of a copy of these exact same ones back in early 2008.
The quality is very good, but certainly not the best.
If you intend to use something other than your computer to play these, then your best getting another copy, as they probably wont play correctly if at all.

You need to encrypt your outgoing connection or you will continue to get DMCA violation notifications. I got about four or five in a row several years ago, then I realized uTorrent had a setting to "mask" me a little bit and... no more notifications.
Not saying this will work for everyone, but it's a thought ;)
Also, really looking forward to this torrent. I already have this in 720p, but recently upgraded the main HDTV to 1080p and wouldn't you know it--the damn thing is putting the 720p version to shame! Now I have to go through and re-download my entire library :-\ (I swear it's like a sickness...)

Thank-you very much WRCI for uploading this. Amazing quality. I'm trying to play this directly through usb on my tv though. It plays some mkv files but this one it wont. I tried twice using total video converter to convert it to hd divx but it crashed at 95% both times. I'm not very experienced with this sort of stuff but I understand the problem is just that the mkv is only a container and the files will otherwise be readable. Does anyone know the best program to use to extract the files from the mkv container?

Try using TSmuxer, and create a .m2ts, or .ts file, and copy it to your usb stick instead of the .mkv file. You should be able to find it anywhere for free. This works for my usb stick on my blu ray player.
Your blu ray player may or may not support this format, and you should check your blu ray manual for file playback support.
Also, when using TSmuxer, and after adding the file to be muxed, change the level to 4.1 (under general track options in the middle of the screen, just below the fps box). This seems to help the blu ray player compatibility with the file playback.

IDK what problem the other guy saw, but I've noticed that in a lot of scenes theres this weird pulsating grainy strobe effect. I mean its normal for a second, then a bright grainy flash that smothers out a lot of detail, and repeats this cycle over and over until the end of the scene. It's kind of bizarre and really distracting, but on the plus side its only present in a few scenes in each episode.
It's sad that there isn't a proper up with DTSMA and none of that annoying pulsating effect, but for now this torrent seems to be the best one available.

First I want to say thanks to WRCI for creating this torrent and to all current seeders.
Unfortunately this torrent is going really slow (around 50kb/s) it will take 2 weeks to download it at this rate.
Further bad news: My torrent client shows me that almost all people with 100% completion are not uploading at all.
At this rate this torrent will die real soon. Thus leaving many of us permanently stuck after downloading many long hours/days.
Also there seems to be no other high quality alternatives out there.
So please seed, we are counting on you.

And please remember one thing, it is not true 1080i version of the series. But nevertheless, it is high quality! 1080i series cannot be stored in just 48 jigs, common sense!

First, the production. This was made all over the world during a significant period of time. The camera work varies as you can't have the same fantastic image high quality camera everywhere you want to shoot. In many places it's hard to get camera gear to so the people who do the photography do the best they can. You will see this with various BBC releases, even later than this one. Soneone said it's an upscale. Prove it. When many of the scenes the quality is OUTSTANDING on a 42" TV. Having said that I have seen some great downscaled, 720p releases that look pretty damn good, and if you are on a smaller device you will never know. Someone said that the last couple minutes are messed. At the end something happened and it's like there is a repeat going on. The credits are done showing when it happens. It's not annoying enough to skip. Just stop the video. All is well.
Someone else said there is distortion around the edge for a brief period during most the videos. Running VLC at full screen you don't see it. It's only when you are out of full screen that you can notice, and you REALLY HAVE TO BE LOOKING. Otherwise if you are looking at the show you probably still won't notice it since it really a fine line.
Lastly file size. To ensure you video stream has enough bandwidth, along with your audio, you need in general about 4Gigs per hour. If DTS sound, more, and sometimes more depending on how much the picture changes, so that can get you up to about 5Gigs per hour. Anything less will show up on a TV. You will see artifacts, grains, fuzz, etc... The only way to keep a 1080p to a high quality image is what I said.

Well, I take back part of what I said. The image quality is really good on this in a few places, other than that it looks like a 720p rip, as part of the sharpness is not there when I compared the HDDVD I have of Planet Earth to this. In this rip you are definitely losing detail, however a smaller size file 1080p rip is going to suffer the same thing, so since I haven't seen a good 1080p rip I'll delete this and see if I can find a high quality 720p rip that maintains as much quality as possible and anoXmous don't do that.

great torrent. Just one thing i noticed is that at the end of most of the episodes after credits.. the video doesnt end. it keeps on running in a loop showing some random scenes from that episodes..
