And the aspect ratio is NOT fucked up. Kubrick intended a full frame. It was some doofus distributors who cropped it to 1.66.

@EJK22: Exactly. This is such a disappointment.
I thought with HD we'd finally learned not to crop movies to make them fit our stupid TV screens, but apparently not. We see releases cropped to 16:9 everywhere these days. And cropping vertically is so much worse than the old cropping horizontally to fit 4:3 screens.
I'm keeping my DVD releases — at least they're the original aspect ratio, uncropped.
Besides, the print is horrible, it doesn't even come close to 720p, so 1080p is clearly overkill, and the 576 pixels of a DVD should suffice.
