Star Trek Next Generation Season 3 x264 ac3 subs-High Quality

I looked around the torrent sites and couldn't find too many high quality rips of this, one of my favorite shows. And I don't believe any include optional subtitles. So I ripped these for myself and thought some might want to share in the enjoyment. The file sizes are large (550mb) because I made them to stream to my 50-inch LCD. While the quality is high, keep in mind that the source dvd's are not the greatest. I did however do my best to clean up the picture and these look great on my 50-inch LCD. If you don't care about space (which you shouldn't with the cheap price of hard drive space), then these are for you. My goal was to maintain a high quality and keep the entire series under 100gb. I am working on the entire series. The ripping and subtitles are a lot of work. But if there is an interest in this torrent, I will continue to post the other seasons as well, as they get done. Glad you like it. Like I said in the description, I am a huge Star Trek fan and was disappointed when I couldn't find any high quality rips out there. I just bought a computer with the new i7 processor, so I can turn all the settings and bells and whistles up on the encoder without it taking forever to encode. That along with a good denoiser filter...thus the high quality.

I unfortunately lost some of my recent dvd rips to a hard drive format. Otherwise season 4 would've been posted by now. I'm only missing 2 episodes. Will be ripping them shortly, so season 4 should be up sometime next week. And then the lst 3 seasons should follow on a pretty regular schedule.

I like how the uploader mentions his "50-inch LCD" - not once but TWICE!!! LOL Like he's obviously just soooooo proud of it. Like it's just so huge no human could ever comprehend owning a humungous 50 inch TV!!! Gosh, I didn't even know they made TVs that big. "Hey everybody, look at me! I got a 50-inch LCD. Jealous much?" So ridiculous.

Thank you for imputing motives...not. Actually, I am far from proud for owning a 50-inch lcd. I would say this is just a minimum for a nice entertainment center. I wish I had a much better t.v. to enjoy and I'm sure many of you out there do have something bigger, newer and better.
I merely meant to get across the fact that these do look good on a t.v. Download the 350mb cr*p and try to play it on a big t.v...really bad stuff. I would say they are fine for watching on a p.c. monitor, but if you want to watch it on a t.v., these have been tested and look great. That's all. No need to get all worked up. My humblest apologies for offending you. Next time, I will just say "a t.v. as big as DerSpiegel64's t.v."

I've redone all of my Star Trek Next Generation rips. These rips (this torrent and the other seasons) was my very first go at encoding. They turned out pretty well, but I've learned a little bit since then. Since this is one of my top 3 favorite shows, I decided to spend the time and do them again...this time even better.
Two things that I did differently:
1. I used 18.5 crf encoding this time. This ensures that no episode is too large and no episode is too small. See a small explanation at the bottom of the new torrent's description.
2. With these first torrents, I added a weak denoiser filter which smoothed things out, getting rid of some of the sharper grain in the process. Grain/sharper details = good.
The quality on the new torrents is a notch better than these due to the aforementioned points. Plus they are smaller due to the crf encoding. . The new size is 80.4gb compared to the older 95gb+ series. Once again, the quality is at least the same (in my opinion better) than this torrent.
My hope is to phase out these earlier torrents and just have the new one (I combined all seasons into one torrent).
