Hey thanks for the program, I ran into error code 130:3, i followed everything i was supposed to put in the hosts file, but it wont save it says
"Cannot created the C:\Windows\System32\drivers\ect\hosts file.
Make sure that the path and file name are correct"

Thingy..am stuck mate! Yes, I did enter serial number when installing - I have no errors and tried your suggestion to delete the Adobe Epic folder from ALL Adobe subfolders and when I tried closing and opening CS4 I get a screen asking to still buy trial or enter Serial Number.

I extracted the folder, opened photoshop install folder then ran setup.exe......I presume this is correct.It gets around 95% on the installation (I am trying to install the trial version....which I presume is also correct) and a big window pops up and says: Installation Error.

I may be blind, but I can't find any "auto update boxes" in any of the Preferences. Instead, I find "Help > Updates..." in the application, which checks for updates when you use it and if you click on Preferences within the Updates window it is set to check for updates weekly. If you disable it, next time you go to Help>Updates... again is again set to check weekly.

We installed the programm without any problems and it worked. When we tried to open it the second time we got these messages and we couldn't open Photoshop anymore:
- Could not open a scratch file because the file is locked. Use the properties command in the Windows Explorer to unlock the file.

You possibly attempted to create the scratch disk/ directory without administrative priviliges and your permissions are not inherited correctly. You need to log on as administrator, check the directory permissions and if they are hosed up, set them new from scratch by taking ownership of all the files.

DUDEEE! lol i need help.... im on step 9 right.. so i was opening all the apps but the photoshop cs4 and cs4 64 bit say Licensing for this product has expired... idk i prolly messed up on the other steps .. like on step 5 im not sure whether to save it as txt file or not but i saved it as txt file.. and also it wont let me save it to that folder so i saved it to my documents and just pasted it in the ETC folder and name it as "hosts" and rename the original "hosts" file as "oldhosts".. also on step 4.. after i ran the activation blocker it was like a pop out window appear with black backround and just disappear quickly lol... so idk which part i messed up... Hey thethingy, great job on the torrent 'n all but I've got a problem. First of all I installed everything without reading the instructions and thus kept getting a message about wrong cd key every time I opened photoshop. I attempted to sort this out by using the install and licence toolkit but it still kept doing it so I un-installed it and installed it again.
Next I ran the installation the way you say to in the instructions and it still kept asking for a new cd key/ licence thingy. I then uninstalled it again and did the clean install thing, deleting all adobe programs on my computer.
I'm now trying to install it again but when I attempt to, a message appears saying:
" SETUP ERROR - setup has encountered an error and cannot continue. Contact Adobe customer support for assistance."
I've looked all over the internet for a solution and haven't found one. Do you have any idea what I've managed to do? Thanks

well then it would seem your only other options are'
1 use system restore to put back your system to the point b4 you first installed photoshop.
2 delete all adobe filesmanually and do the same in regedit.

i do appologise big head, i believe one of your shared registry keys has the wrong permissions, one guy in the other adobe (thething) torrents had this same issue with adobe installing and office not starting, look throgh the other posts for the reg key to change permissions on, there are 100's of comments though ill look also and post it.

this is that dudes comment "got it working. noticed an issue within office 2007 enterprise dealing with permissions to a registry key. once i restored security permissions back to default with the help of an MS tool, the .exe file ran normally again and i was able to complete a sucessful install of CS4. thanks for your help."

1. something about the scratch disk is locked, and it asked me to unlock it using windows explorer.
2. photoshop file is locked, pls use windows explorer to unlock the file.

wow! thank you so much for this - you have no idea how much i appreciate the time you put into getting this up for everyone to use.
i do have a minor issue though, and im not sure if its the program or something to do with my computer.
i did everything in the directions, and PS opens just fine - no issues. although when its open and im working on something, the selection tool and some other tools are erratic. like if im using the polygonal lasso tool, and i click on a certain part of the canvas, it will randomly select another area. also when i hit EDIT on the top toolbar, the box that comes down with the possible selections is off center and to the right. i can take a screenshot if you need to see it.
just wondering if you had a solution to this. is it my screen size? thank you! xoxo

i ran the take ownership program, and same errors still appear.
i installed CS4, following your instruction and it worked great, until i close it. then, 2 errors appeared, the 1st being scratch disk is locked, Photoshop can't initiallized. Then followed by the Photoshop file is locked, can't initialized. please use windows explorer to unlock the file.
so i installed Take Ownership. Log off, log on, right clicked on Photoshop folder, script ran and problems still remain.

I have downloaded, installed, and completed all the instructions - the only issue I've had is I cannot complete the setup for the #4 Update - all the other updates installed fine, but #4 just came back saying "can not install please click the quit button" ... it goes on to say that

God I'm really pissed. I've been trying for the last 3 fucking hours and i can't get rid of this hosts file. this always comes up when I try to delete: "Cannot delete hosts: It is being used by another person or program". I'm the admin on this comp. and there aren't any other programs running. and i tried using your thing that says to turn on security settings when right clicking the file. I've ran the Windows Cleanup program from the folder 'Activation & Instructions', and removed Adobe Reader and Adobe Setup.
Tried to Setup, but getting a Setup failure. [Setup has discoverd a failure and can not continue. Please contact the client support for assistance].
Can I safely remove all the programs in the list of the Windows Cleanup program? Or are they not functioning [well] after that?

I can't REPLACE it with it. I can only add that file into it. Like I can't delete the regular hosts file on my computer because it says that. and I'm in the 'processes' section of task manager. Nothing called "host". the only thing I see is "svchost". but there's 3 of them for SYSTEM, 2 for NETWORK SERVICE, and 2 for LOCAL SERVICE. I solved it. The problem wasn't old adobe programs installed on the cpu. It was a conflict between the cs4 installation and another file/program on my cpu. So when I deleted the file, it worked :)

right, a couple of other users have experienced this same issue with office installed, it seems a registry key required for the adobe install is shared with office and it has the wrong permissions set, check the other torrent comments, there is a ms tool to reset the office reg permissions but the dude did not post a link to it, you could try repairing office then trying adobe, hope this helps.

I was on the step when I had to open each program to uncheck 'Auto Update', but when I opened Photoshop, it said that the 'Licence has Expired'.

I have 3 computers and an older Compaq Presario R4000 running Windows 7 Home Premium 32 bit is the one I use to test installations.
My first attempt was unsuccessful...I was left with several nagging questions about why the install was not successful?all of which related to my limited understanding of what I am doing.
Since my Compaq was still in one piece after completing the install I decided to address some of those doubts by attempting to install this program on my main desktop running Windows 7 Ultimate 64 bit. I mention the bit program because one of those doubts was noticing that it was the Windows 64 bit driver that installs when you update ?cameraraw5? from the supplied update files which I didn?t think should be happening on a 32 bit OS.
I also realized that no matter how careful someone may be in writing out the steps to be followed sometimes it is invariable that what is a simple understanding to that person may not be shared by the person following those steps. A case in point would be Step 5 pt 2: Go to C:\windows\system32\drivers\etc and open the "hosts" file with notepad and check it matches the above, if not correct it.
I believe I would have understood this step better had it read: Go to C:\windows\notepad and open notepad with Run as administrator and then in Notepad go to File?Open? and navigate to C:\windows\system32\drivers\etc. Then in the bottom right hand corner of Notepad change Text documents (*.txt) to All Files and then click on hosts and then Open. If the text does not look the same copy and paste the text from my example to the hosts file and then close Notepad saving the changes.
In STEP 6 you are asked to: 1) Copy the AdobeLM.dll file from this folder. For the record I changed the capital A to a small a so as it would mirror how this file looked in the 3 folders you are asked to put it in. Perhaps it doesn?t make any difference but it is often the little things that cause the big problems?
When I turned the Internet back on and opened CS4 I was not asked to Register as I understand Register. I was asked if I wanted a 30 day trial or if I had a Serial Number to enter it now.
The first time I simply continued without entering a Serial Number when I followed instructions and went to EDIT,PREFRENCES,GENERAL the AUTO UPDATE BOX was already unchecked. The second time I opened up CS4 I was again presented with the 30 day trial or Serial Number option. This time I entered a Serial Number which was accepted. The third time I opened up CS4 it opened directly.

When at first you don?t succeed?
I now have this on all three of my computers :)

To save a file without .txt or .doc extension from notepad, put it in " " quotes. That is, save the the hosts file as "hosts"
If you have tightened the security settings in Windows 7 and run DEP ? Data Execution Prevention for all services, then you cannot see or alter important system files i the System32 folder. In that case, log on with administrative priviligies, have Windows search in hidden folders, search for hosts, when found in the search window copy the file to your documents folder, alter it following the instructions from thethingy, then copy it back to it's original location and confirm overwrite of the original file.

I uninstalled the CS4 since the first time I ran it i did all the wrong things in installing it like:
* not knowing how to run as administrator (i simply thought that since im using the the administrator setting, i can do whatever i want like with xp coz its my first time using win7)
*installed in custom location. (yep, ive read the notes above but i forgot and i was rushing so i unconsciously did what i usally do and installed it in a different location.) it worked properly (or so i thought...), asked for serial, registration and etc., but i didn't know how to edit the registry at first so i didn't continue anymore and tried deleting it.
* I tried installing windows installer clean-up but didn't know how to at first. ended up aborting it coz it wont run after i tried cleaning up all the program that was installed with CS4.
*tried rmoving the program physically, since it wouldn't appear in both the add/remove program list.
*tried reinstalling correctly (run as admin) after, restart, but errors occured, it seems that air & cs4 wont install (it says error) but is now appearing in add/remove programs selection. So I tried uninstalling after a proper windows clean-up first (since it wont appear if i uninstall first (ive done install/uninstall many times just to remove the program so im sure it happens)but this message appeared:
Done, some problems occured while component is being removed. Please see below.
(but there was no details/list)
finally, It won't disappear from add/remove even if i restart the pc. i even tried system restore but its still simply there.

The entire PSCS4 folder is still in program files and it's also still in my startup menu.

thethingy, please I need your help. I want to do a new fresh install of PSCS4. I followed your steps in the Adobe Install & Licence Toolkit. But I want everything from Photoshop removed! When I use the Windows cleanup tool and your scripts, Photoshop is not removed from my computer yet I can't uninstall it anymore! I can do a fresh install, but then I have the same problem with all pixels messed up in EVERY file I open.
I also noticed that Photoshop has remembered the recently opened files from the previous install. I want the program completely removed from my pc so I can reinstall it from scratch.
How can I make sure everything will be removed?? (since it remembered the previous opened files, that info still needs to be on my computer somewhere?)

thats all it does, it stops the adobe app contacting the activation server, you can do it manually and not use the blocker but you do need to put the entries on the hosts one way or another or the app will shut down.

Hey, thethingy, I heard a lot of good stuff about your torrent, and I really need Photoshop, but it doesn't want to run...
I followed the instructions EXACTLY, including DCing from the internet.
After taking forever to install, it says something like "Install done, with errors" and I don't know why. Paying no mind, I tried installing the updates and all of their installations failed. Finally, I opened all of the programs from the installation I could to see what was going on, and Photoshop was the only one that threw an error. It said something like "File in application folder missing, please reinstall" or some-such nonsense like that.
This has happened with every Photoshop torrent I have tried to install (two, to be exact :P), so I'm assuming it's a problem with my computer rather than the torrents I'm downloading.
Unfortunately, I already uninstalled it (having to wait practically overnight for it, too), so I don't know error numbers or exact error messages or anything.
I need help, please! D:

Hey thingy...just a small issue I've been having with the install. I got to step 4, ran the blocker as admin (I use Vista). A command prompt popped up for about .5 seconds as if it were running. dont worry about the blocker all that does is add the entries to your hosts, you can do it yourself by opening the hosts with notepad and copying the entries from the readme and pasting them in to your hosts.

I too have been having the 130:3 error saying licensing for the product has stopped working. It only happens when I try to open Photoshop Cs4 64bit, the 32bit works just fine but I'd rather use the 64 if I can get it to work.
From reading some of the other comments/responses, it seems that the reason this occurs is because of a problem with the host file....when I was going through the whole process, when it got to the point where you were supposed to open the host file and compare it to the one in the instructions, they were NOT the same, but when i tried to make the changes to it so it would match, the comp. told me I didnt have permission to save that file. I saved it under a separate name on my desktop, but the original file remained the same. Also, later when we are supposed to re-open the host file and copy the last line from it into our own copy, it looked the same as it had in the previous steps, no new lines at all. I tried copying the last line "adobe.activate.com" from your instructions into my saved copy of the host file, but I'm guessing that didnt really solve anything because I am still getting the error msg.
New to torrenting programs, been mainly a movie-downloader but I need PS for my class, so I am trying to fumble my way around getting this program from you! :)
Any suggestions on how to repair this problem without redoing the whole process, or am I stuck using 32-bit?

To those having new problems running the program after a previously successful installation: Your problems may be due to your installation of new versions of Adobe Acrobat Reader which has the sneaky habit of reversing the effects of cracked files, even if your hosts file contains the complete anti-activation list.

Yes I'm running it as admin, I think I've fixed it. I originally downloaded it to my desktop PC and it worked fine there so I burned it to a DVD to run on my GF's laptop and it didn't work, I've now copied it to her laptop instead of running it off the DVD and it now looks like it's working (it's gotten past the point where it was asking for a CD). So I got this program to work but I'm just wondering about performance issues. I have a 4gb 2.2 dual core computer and when I do a brushstroke, it takes a few seconds sometimes for it to show up and it's not even instant, it just loads like I was really painting but slower. blazie151, thanks for the links, i put the amtlib.dll (32 & 64 ) in the toolkit as it is more of a repair dll for when things go wrong, the adobelm.dll is the licence .dll file for clean installs, but in the toolkit i dont think i stated they were diferant .dll fils rather "copy the dll file", if you can post the fix for 0xc000007b error, thanks

I had trouble with Fireworks (was getting error code for registration issues) because I followed the instructions incorrectly but I retried it again for Photoshop and it worked great. I typed in "Bridge CS4" and "Device Centeral" in search, but they only take me to the files that open the program. I'm not sure what to do since those files don't show up.

open my computer and in the address bar type;
C:\Program Files\Adobe\Adobe Bridge CS4
then press enter, that will bring up the folder. If its not there then you probabily havent installed all of the apps when installing photoshop

k first thanks for the torrent. However when I tried the first step and cliced on setup there was no input for serial number. I got a screen saying welcome chose the options you would like the install or reinstall. Then at the right side it says instaled products and under it says adobe photoshop cs4 and the check box is checked. I searched my computer and did not find adobe cs4. I did have cs4 before on vista but now running win 7. I even checked to make sure its not in the windows old file. In addition i used both of your cleaaring methods and still no luck. Any ideas?

ok so i downloaded, installed, got to the stage where i opened the program "licence agreement has stopped" or whatever, fixed that through windows install cleaner (step A... step B, as per the instructions, the FLEXnet fix it, makes no sense to me), such that i didnt get the error message anymore. but, now past that, i open up photoshop, it opens the license agreement, which i click accept to, and then it simply closes and does nothing. what am i missing?
does the fact that my program files folder in C: is split into two (program files AND program files (x86) have anything to do with it? i just treated them as one, adding the adobe.dll file into all applications, independant of which of the two folders the app was in.

Is it supposed that the saved file should be a Notepad document saved in the same directory? I just interpreted it as a change in the actual file, not creating a Notepad document. :S

So now I have completed every step. I open CS4 and it says "Liscensing for this product has stopped working. This product has encountered a problem which requires that you restart your computer before it can be launched" It goes on to tell me that if this keeps happening to contact them which I obviously can't.

I have installed Your torrents with 0 problems in the past, even this one! But after switching to Windows 7 64bit last week, PS CS4 was asking for the disc in drive C: so I used the "windows cleanup tool" to start over. Now I'm getting that horrible message "setup has encountered an error and cannot continue..."After that, I used the "Adobe CS4 Clean Script" but it didn't fix the problem, Then I used Your "Reset Registry" torrent, and I'm still getting that horrible message...
After reading all the comments I found "that dudes" comments about a registry key permission, But I never installed MS Office.
Can You please point me in the right direction to get this installed, Do You have any idea what registry Key could be cauing this problem? I would really hate to have to Re-Install My OS to get this to work.... :(

"that dude" never posted back, i think he used the regestry permissions tool that you have already tried, try doing this;
1. Run the Photoshop CS4 installer.
2. Enter your serial number. Click Accept.
3. On the right side of the Options panel under the 64-bit heading, uncheck the
box for Adobe Photoshop CS4 (leave the Adobe Photoshop CS4 (64-bit) option
checked).
4. Finish installation.

I wish I could get that far, This is exactly what happens..
1. I click the PS setup
2. A box pops up that says "checking system profile."
3. The progress bar gets to about 90%
4. a second box pops up that says "Setup has encountered an error and cannot continue. Contact Adobe customer support for assistance."
5. My only option at this point is a "Quit" button.
This only happened After I used the "windows cleanup" tool. I tried a system restore, But it said nothing was changed.

Okay I've just installed this. Followed every step in installation. Opened every app incept for Photoshop because it crashes. I right click and run it as admin, the blue box comes up and says its reading prefences. Then a box comes up and says Adobe Photoshop has stopped working and Windows is checking for a solution. Wow this was ridiculously hard to install, especially the part where we're supposed to find a "host" file in system32. Personally I searched that map for "host" and found nothing but "HOSTNAME".

tapper101, if you cant find the hosts file then it is very unlikly that you will be able to use photoshop in any event, sometimes its good to show hiden files and folders as the hosts is a system file that each and every version of windows has (in the same place).

I installed your Premiere Pro CS4 yesterday. Now I want to install your Photoshop CS4. Am I going to run into problems because there are some shared applictions in both of them (i.e., Adobe Air, Adobe Media Player). Before I installed Premiere Pro CS4, i ran into problems b/c my computer already had Adobe AIR on it. It had installed everything else and then said there were problems installing AIR (and i knew the reason was b/c it was already on there). Is this going to present another problem for me?? Additionally, will this present any problem when I also install your After Effects, Flash, Illustrator and Soundbooth (each CS4)???

hey, I'm having the same problem as a couple other people. On page four, somebody had a problem with the instillation getting about 90% done and it would stop and give the message

I'm getting the same problem. Microsoft office isn't working, just like their. I looked for an ms tool like that one guy said and couldn't find anything that worked. I tried to set permissions back to default, system restore, and cc cleaner and nothing helped. The only thing I did after the system restore was modify the hosts file.
Any suggestions from anyone would be greatly appreciated!

Windows 64-bit installs "pure" 64-bit applications into Program Files, and 32-bit applications into (x86) one.

for some crazy reason when I try to run setup it says: "checking system profile" and then an error message comes up telling me to "Contact Adobe Customer Support"
obviously that'd be an epically stupid thing to do and so I desperately require your infinate wisdom..

I have this serial code problem...
I uninstalled CS4, Replaced the Hosts, Restarted, Hosts saved, disconnected internet, ran CS5, Agreed to terms, Then the serial page... hit the code and it says invalid. What did i do wrong?
I went ahead and did the removal tool, windows cleanup on adobe apps, ran clean ups, the CS4 one didn't do anything, tried to install and serial still not valid. Not sure what to do....

I signed up just to say thanks! Although the instructions did take some time to figure out, it actually runs quite smooth. And it is getting harder and harder to find good crack files like these, so thanks the thingy!
One thing I would like to add is for those who have problems saving the HOSTS file in win 7, try to change the security settings for the file itself by
right-clicking on the host file,
selecting the security tab,
click on advanced,
press change permission,
highlight the user you are currently logged on,
edit and check allow for full control
This should let you save the file with no problem.
But yea, I found the solution by reading about 10 pages of comments because every question that needs an answer is already answered, if not at least a million times,

Hi, Im new to downloading torrents and have got stuck on step 6. I cant see the folders I need to change.
The Adobe File > Adobe Cs4 (64bit) > Several folders and dll files, but none which state the same as you mention in step 6.
Also where do I perform the updates, there is no updates folder either.

Thanks thethingy! fantastic step by step instructions! looks daunting but very simple! took a while to install with all the updates, but well worth it! the only issue i had was about 25% of the way through the installer couldnt find "adobePDF.dll" but installed without it and it works fine!
No virus issues found (kaspersky) just a ton of "do you trust this program" etc etc... but no serious issues....
I put the "adobelm.dll" in the x64 photoshop version folder and it worked, if i didnt need to it doesnt matter... but the instructions just said "program files".. im running x64 so all except one app (PS) was located in "Program files x86" folder....

Hi, I found it but by previous photoshop version was completely uninstalled already, so I had nothing to remove.

I've had this work on Vista/7 32-bit with no problem. This won't work on 64-bit.

Thanks for all the work! I\'ve read through a fair number of the comments looking for a similar issue to the one Im having. I had a PS version 7 that glitched while in use with program error msg. I restarted the ap and it started telling me I had insufficient Ram. So I unistalled-reinstalled an same msg. So I deleted entirely and then tried your CS4. I get an error on install for CS4. What Photoshop file do I make the switch in? 64 bit or 32 bit? Did the install already on one machine and did the file switch in the 32 bit, but when I go to use 64 bit, it says that the serial has expired.
I want to be able to use 64 bit and 32 bit—is that not possible with this? Any help would be appreciated.

Hey, I Think I found a much easier way to crack this torrent:
I tried it with Mcafee
just put it on full security now it will ask for each program: Do you want to let it connect to the internet now just click NO.
So it can't validate the serial.
(it could work on mcafee just didn't tried it on other ones yet.)

I have downloaded this torrent and tried many of tips to try and install this software in my computer. From the registry reset to clean install, everything, but the same error comes all the time. Hey this torrent worked great for me and I followed the instructions you left for us in the folder.
But one issue i cant seem to get by is, Step 8 of the Instructions. I can get my hosts file to save the changes I made.
I have all the files in host except 127.0.0.1 files.
I tried save type as 'text document' and the other option in drop down, all files to replace the current hosts but to avail.

I assume you're using windows 7... I had the same problem, but by right clicking on your notepad in your start menu allows you to access the program as administrator which allows you to make the changes needed

Problem. When I try to install, (with internet disconnected) it tells me "Critical Error" followed by "see error log." I can't find the error log, and I can't get it to install. BUT, it is clean. No viruses detected, and quick to DL. Got it in 20 minutes. damn it! idk what i did...i think it might have been from messing with system 32 too much or something. but im on the alienware m11x and when i tried adjusting the brightness from the keyboard and it said that my account configuration would not allow proper running of the program. and my alienware command center will not work. this happened only after i installed the pscs4. so i unistalled it with glary utilities and i just got a message saying i might have been fooled by counterfeit software.

I followed all of the instructions and everything went perfectly. The only thing you need to remember is when you are doing the step about copying the .dll file is that one is located in the reg 32 bit or x86 program file and the other is in your regular 64 bit program file.. dunno if thats causing any errors but im sure it would... this is only relevant if you are using 64 bit.. Have spent the day installing PS4 and have followed instructions meticulously. Sadly, like so many I get the 130:3 error. I have read all 27 pages of comments and all your links to fixes are blank though I can tell from comments that you seem to be able to sort it out for most that have asked. Would greatly appreciate your help. Was great to see PS4 open up, but sad to get the error message and watch it close down again. Word of advice if your antivirus detected a virus. It's what is known as a false positive. Ex: a program that is meant to act like a virus to generate keys, patch a file, etc. It IS NOT harmfull in any way. Hope that clears some things up. On a side note I didn't have to edit the hosts file to get things to work properly. I just went to RUN => msconfig and made sure nothing involving adobe photoshop etc started up with windows and made sure the program doesn't auto update or connect to adobe's websites. Happy torrenting =D

Please help: This file worked for me, months before my hard disc drive died. I'm in China and their solution was to fix me up with some low-grade hardware and basic software. I am running Windows 7 Premium Edition but for some reason, this file icon is a blank page and I get "Select a program to open with..."

Works great, one thing to add. In CS4 you can't access the auto update preferences in the main Edit...Preferences menu.
Instead, go to Help.. Updates and it will open a window with available updates. In that window click the link to Preferences and it will open Adobe Updater Preferences.
Uncheck "Automatically check for Adobe updates", hit OK and you should be good to go.

I'm on step 5 (updating the 'hosts' file) and it won't let me save the changes, saying that I don't have permission (it asks me if I'd like to save a copy to My Documents instead). Sorry to sound like a noob, but I'm having a problem with the file itself. The file name is ADOBE PHOTOSHOP CS4, but the file type itself is just "File", so it's asking me to open it with a program. What am i supposed to do here?
