I just did "Extract to kas-ANNO\" with WinRar. Dr. Web Anti-Virus reports the Install.exe is infected with BackDoor.Haslo.12. After I extracted, I just ran the .bat file and it took about 40 minutes to complete.
Game runs perfectly and it's visually appealing.

For those who gets messages in annocrash.txt
Add the following line : 9
You can also try and substitute the 9 with 10 (It worked for me).
So the contents of the Engine.imi file should look like this:
0
Change it to :
0
10
If you have DirectX 10, replace 9 as 10.
That should work.

hai i really need help....i got to problem to enter the Anno.exe
then there a error...this application has failed to start because d3dx9_40.dll was not found. please re-installing the application may fix this problem....
i already update the direct-x but is still the same problem came out...and i did install directX 10 but the problem is still the same....
can someone help me what with this....i been trying to install again and again and again.....but the problem is still the same...

I am having the same d3dx9_40.dll problem. I found a copy of d3dx9_40.dll and downloaded it. I tired plugging it in to several pathways to get it to work. But I cry NO JOY. Will someone please find a solution to this? I really want to play this game. and would rather not have to hunt it down elsewhere.

I think is the solution but I have ABSOLUTELY NO IDEA WHAT they are talking about.
it seems that the solution lies in there somewhere.
i think that the d3dx9_40.dll that is missing is A DIRECTX problem but i dont know as i dont speak code, nor am i familiar with it nor have i ever really been able to get any kind of beta-ware to a working state through all the adding of prewritten code. so if someone could explain in the "for dummies" solution I would greatly appreciate it.
