So here are the instructions, they're essentially the same as the ones used for CS4, but with updated DNS'es that you need to block.
ONLY ENTER THE SERIAL AFTER YOU'VE BLOCKED THE DNS

Stun, spam is unsolicited commercial email. It is kind of ridiculous to say a link to use Adobe's bandwidth so we can pirate their $2500 software is somehow commercial communication.
OTOH, getting the software from Adobe's servers assures I am getting clean, virus-free goods and is usually faster than torrents. It is at least a viable alternative. So chill.

@efxr - Thanks for the instructions, but where ever did you get those hosts file entries? Half of them are bullshit (you can't alias TCP/IP ports or URIs, VeriSign CRL servers are actually important, private use ranges, etc.).
I've been using CS4 all this time with only a couple of entries, no trouble so far. I'm not saying the same ones will work, but people wanting to install the latest release should search around a bit for a better guide.

Just so everyone knows: The Master Collection trial version that you can download from Adobe's website IS NOT a complete version. Copied from

It appears that you can only get this additional content when you purchase the software and either opt to receive the boxed media in the mail or as a download files that Adobe provides to you through their online store.

It's in no way different than what efxr is suggesting, other than legality. As for not having the full version, the Adobe download is 5.62GB, while Stun's version here is 5.24 GB. Doesn't seem like much is missing there to me. In all likelyhood, Stun's version is probably just the trial anyways. They're the same.

kfriede: Sorry, but I must disagree. The trial download file (from Adobe's website) isn't exactly the same as what you Adobe provides you when you actually purchase. One proof of this fact is that the trial download doesn't include Adobe Acrobat, which is part of Master Collection; you only receive that when you purchase Master Collection.

Thanks for everyone that pointed out which hosts don't need to be blocked.
I'm not an expert on this stuff and to be frank, i've been worried about blocking this intere list (with CS4 you only needed to block a few lines).
As Seqscan pointed out, I reedit the Host file to only block 127.0.0.1 activate.adobe.com
And everything works fine, no 'your serial has expired' messages so far.
I wish i could edit that huge Hosts list in my second post...

I have installed CS4 masters collection. I tried to install with the setting in Host Database from last installation, and it works like a charm? :) In other words, if you blocked in CS4, it works on CS5.

I downloaded the CS5 demo from Adobe using the Akamai downloader (and then installed as per the instructions in this thread). You should be aware that Akamai installs a program that phones home to a range of sites on a regular basis, and some of the sites seem to be related to activation. Little Snitch caught it and I blocked outgoing and then deleted the Akamai process that was starting automatically and phoning home. So far CS5 is functioning fine.

I downloaded the demo from Adobe and activated it as per this thread. Encore 5.0.0.508 was included and it launches fine, but I have not used it. Not sure about Acrobat Pro 9 as I already had it installed. However, as I posted previously the Akamai downloader that I installed to download the demo launches a process that starts automatically tries to call all sorts of addresses, some which seemed related to activation.

I have installed Creative Suite 5 on my computer, and the block and all worked like a charm!
But my friend is having problems. I told him to uninstall CS4, drag to the trash, and then install like told. However he didn't save the hosts file the first time, and now it says the serial is invalid. He have tried reinstalling but it doesn't seem to work.
I think there might be some hidden registration file somewhere - anyone have an idea on how to solve this?

Simply using the uninstall feature isn't enough.
Adobe always leaves a shitload of garbage around the place, even if you select 'delete preference' when uninstalling.
Delete the following:
Macintosh HD / Library / Application Support / Adobe
Macintosh HD / Library / Application Support / regid.1986-12.com.adobe
Macintosh HD / Library / Preferences .... delete anything that starts with com.adobe.
Repeat the first and third line in your User library.

First of all, I want to thank you for uploading this package, it works beautifully on my Macbook laptop. Unfortunately, I have encountered a problem when installing it on my iMac, to which I would like to address to you in the hopes that you can be of assistance.
My iMac was the first of my two computers where I installed it on. Therefore, this was the one where I made the fatal mistake of installing and using the programs before having added the necessary IP addresses to my hosts file. When I found this out I used the Adobe Installer to uninstall the programs, Appzapper to remove any remains and an app from Adobe called Adobe Creative Suite Cleanup to be absolutely sure that there was nothing left.
Even though, when having added the IP addresses before re-installing the programs, Adobe still wants me to Register :( So, I was hoping that you can help me with this problem? Maybe even let me know which file I have to remove that the uninstall programs obviously cannot find? It can't be that I have to format the entire computer to completely remove the files, can it?
By the way, bbell, the serial key is located in the .nfo-file... Open the file with Notepad :)

1 thing though: please help: i got this all to work perfectly, and i believe i blocked the hosts correctly. but i had some trouble with my connectivity and i reverted my hosts back to the default... basically the adobe serial# screen now pops up when i go to open it... ive tried re-blocking the hosts and re-installing the .dmg i extracted...still no luck.. takes me to the application manager everytime...
is there anyway around this? .. does adobe know my IP er somthing now? not sure how this works.... should i re-download the original torrent?

I used the serial on a copy I downloaded from Adobe, and it woks like a charm! Excellent.

I downloaded a trial from adobe, can anyone tell me if I can do this and how?

This did not come as a DMG file (as noted above); rather it downloaded as 59 files (also as noted above). I'm not a Mac person; I did this for my son, who is a Mac user. I have downloaded DMGs for him, so the format of these files (.r(xx) and .rar) leaves me wondering what to do with them. The individual files are 100 MB (mostly), but contain a DMG of >6 GB with RAR packing of different sizes for each file. Your advice would be most appreciated.

@dljones and anyone else. The .dmg-file is split up into 57 files due to if a part of the download gets corrupted, they only need to redownload the corrupted RAR and not the whole file.
Simply extract the contents of one of the rar-files to get the dmg. (Rar works like .zip-files)

I went through each step carefully to block the hosts as recommended, but adobe updater continued communicate with Adobe and interfere. Then I discovered this site:

follow the steps described and it works like a charm! Adobe doesn't bug me anymore.

The download and installation went quite well, but my Hosts file is locked and I have already tried unlocking it the usual way- all it says I can do is create a duplicate. Is there a way around this?
