Hi, what is the eComponent folder? Where am I suppose to place this? Also when I click update, the virus definitions updated fine, but when I read the log file, it wasn't able to update the engine, am I missing something here? cheers

If you are referring to the ePO Component folder, that is another application for use in an enterprise environment. Its purpose is to relay any activity from the client computers (i.e. computer lab) using VirusScan to a main orchestrator. As for the failed engine update, I am getting the same message. I am assuming it is simply because there is not an update available. Here is the output from my console:
May 6 12:09:12 Power-Mac-G5 VirusScan[8677]: Checking for new Engine update
May 6 12:09:13 Power-Mac-G5 VirusScan[8677]: Failed to check Engine package availability
May 6 12:09:13 Power-Mac-G5 VirusScan[8648]: Engine version: 5200.2160 , DAT version: 5289, DAT date: 05/05/2008
May 6 12:09:16 Power-Mac-G5 VirusScan[8677]: Stopping eUpdate.

the only reason os x has not had many viruses so far is because the number of users has been small in comparison to windows, where there is enough motivation, weaknesses will be found by hackers. check here:

Installed fine on OS 10.4.11 but when launched the app says it's a trail version that's expired.

Is it just me or has this program slowed the shit out of anyone else's computer? I had a number of other potential culprits, but noticed a super-slowdown after installing this. I'm talking like three min to rotate an image in photoshop.
