In the future if you find subs not showing the right characters do the following: If the subs are muxed in mkv download & use MKVextractGUI to extract(demux) the subtitles from mkv, and mkvmerge GUI to mux back the edited/repaired sub in the mkv. Download "Notepad++" (free): http://sourceforge.net/projects/notepad-plus/ The sub you demuxed from mkv: Open and save as...ANSI !(Important!) If DTS is not good for you convert to AC3 without extracting the Audio Track in a few minutes with PopCorn MKV AudioConverter

Don't convert it to lower then 448 KB/s.

About the subs...an easy way is to use the tools already mentioned in the description, for demuxing, and demux the subs from the MKV file, leaving the subs you want only. Or remove them all if they are displaying in your TV, like my Samsung, ~I cannot choose to disable mkv subs so I need to remove them all first. It is simple! Go to videohelp.com and learn learn learn!
