Have you tried running it in compabilty mode? What windows do you use? I've installed it on my WinXP Home Ed. without any problems and the game runs as it should.
If the isnatll works without problems and the error shows when you try to launch the game. Try installing the update first.
Instead of telling you too "google" the net for the update I'm such a friendly fella so I put it up for you here:
This update also adds multiplayer mode to the game so get some friends together :) Oh, I really hope this solves it for you.

Ok to answer my own question and a few similar ones this game more than likely needs to be ran in compatibility mode. To do this find the .exe file in the program files in the Deus Ex system folder and go through the properties. I ran mine in compatibility mode for windows 95 and it now works perfectly. This is a great torrent and after installing has worked almost flawlessly way better than the GOTY torrent.

Its a problem with ANY dual(+)core system. Be sure to update(patch) your OS. Be sure to update dErectX =). Be sure to install the processor driver(!).
This is NOT the timings problem of this game, many games like CS get messed up aswell.

Something is very wrong with this torrent. When I downloaded it and tried to install first I got a message that said I was missing OpenGlDrv.dll, but I managed to find and download that. Then I was missing OpenGlDrv.ini, managed to find that, then missing OpenDlDrv.int, found that then I'm missing DeusExCharacter.u and I'm willin to bet there's other stuff missin as well. wtf i installed it and it had no problems, but when i tried running deus ex it ran super super slow. when the opening Eidos Interactive logo appeared it took like 3 minutes to load and then the mouse wouldn't move on the main menu and then the game crashed! Can someone help me!!!

This is a .iso file. Your best bet is to download daemon tools lite (just google it, its free), and install that program on your comp. Then open daemon tools, and select
'virtual CDROM' / 'mount image', and select the Deus Ex .iso file you've just downloaded from bittorrent.
Then autorun will start just as if you had inserted the CD.
Daemon tools will work for all iso image files, its a very useful program

Okay - When I downloaded this I had a folder with a WinRar Archive file in it.
Do not extract this file and use the installer.
Instead use Daemon Tools to mount this to a virtual drive and it will then install itself.

hey i downloaded this game a few days ago.
for some reason the game acts like it's a demo, every level where i have to get in a vehicle to progress the game gives me a "available now in stores" kind of screen and then quits to the main menu.
i can manually jump to any level through the console, but i lose all items, augs and skill points.
anyone knows a way around this?

Everyone having problems with install. Take entire .rar file (the one file you get after finishing the download) and mount this to a virtual drive or burn it to a cd. In order to do this you'll need daemon tools or alchohol 120 or a similar program. After that it will load automatically and you can install. Thanks to all seeders for this I had a great download speed and will seed back for a good while myself.

Hi guys. I'm having som kind of graphical malfunction here. When I enter the training level the colors on the background is all messed up. In the very first room (still training lvl) the pillars and the walls are purple. This fixes itself when I run the game in a window but not in fullscreen. I was just wondering if anyone knew a quick fix for my problem. And before you ask: yes, I've tried running it in different compabilitymodes. For example win 95, win XP etc.
And yes, I've played around with the "Display"-settings in-game.
TLDR: The background colors are wrong (purple instead of brown etc). I HAVE tried different compabilities. I HAVE fiddled with the "DISPLAY"-settings.
Any help would be extremely appreciated.

Wow, I'm such a moron. The ONE option I didn't play around with in the Display menu was the optin "Text Color Depth". I turned it from 16 to 32 and it's looking good for now. I'll get back to you in case I need more help ^^

I dont have any problems with the download or installation, but when I start the game, it just freezes... I mean, when I really start... I can go through the menu, options, everything... I start the first mission, pick my face, name, and listen to that guy talk... But when the real mission starts, it just freezes, and I can't do anything except restarting my computer... No task manager, no end task, end process, nothing, just a restart helps... Anyone help please?
