btw got it working, just needed to block isadmin.exe which checks admin privileges (wrong)...
Dang, another problem now... can't get it to work on LAN... with GMod 10 I could play on LAN with my bro but now with GMod 11 I can't. I've tried to: 1. play with hamachi 2. try to create a server on one computer and connect with the other computer via versa...

I just tried to type it into command prompt but that was fail so I dropped setup.bat into cmd and it worked. Then it said I was missing files from c>program files>valve>garrys mod.
I also tried opening it up with notepad hoping to see a string of code but its all gibberish.

I cannot get it to work on LAN!
I do everything as the Readme.txt writes:
"Creating A LAN Server:
(1) Open Garry's Mod
(2) Click "Create Server"
(3) Select map, options, etc. Make sure to select "Local Network Game" under options

Then I tried the "Alternative", but it didn't start and I got a message "Failed to load the launcher DLL: the given module was not found."

Ok, this didn't work for me. I downloaded it and went to install it, but VAC (or is it UAC?) didn't turn off. So really I can't rate except for the stats whilst downloading. I was using Standard Limewire v4 for the download.

- If someone undo something he undoes the other players actions to.
- If one player uses a numbers on the keypad to trigger something, everybody else can trigger that with their keypad.

For those who want to change the install directory but the batch won't let them, here's what I did to get it to work:
1. Open Setup.bat in Notepad
2. Find this line "set ID=" (without quotes) it should towards the top.
3. Delete the path after the "="
4. You can then add whatever path you want to this line and it should change the default install directory.

hey i think i just founda fix for all you guys getting the "file not found" or "cannot find synapse/debuger2.exe" errors after player around with the installer.
1. open setup.bat in notepad.
2. find the following paragraph and delete it (MAKE A BACKUP OF SETUP.BAT JUST IN CASE YOU MAKE A MISTAKE!):

5. open "My Computer" and go to C:\Program Files\Valve\Garry's Mod. from there, delete the hl2.exe file.
6. Now start setup.bat and it should start installing!

Ok guys, I think I have figured out the issue:
For some reason, the directory C:/Program Files/Valve/Garry's Mod just didn't exist. This is why 7-zip was saying that it couldn't find the files (duh.)
Sooo, I created the directory myself, and pasted the files in exactly as they were from the torrent. Then, it gave me the UAC (or whatever it is) problem, but when I tried to delete the code, it wouldn't let me. The solution I figured out was to cut it back out and put it in some random folder, edit the Setup file there, and paste it back in. This appears to be working: it's installing, but of course, I won't know for sure until it is done.
I am running Vista 32.

I have scanned with norton, AVG free 8.5, malware bytes anti malware, sophos, and spysweeper (Yes, i always do this) and didn't detect a thing! Works great and loads quickly. two fixes guys!
1. if it still says 'access is denied' when running the bat file, right click the bat file when running it and select 'run as administrator'. It worked for me.
2. When you get the choices of 1,2 or 3, and you want to change directory but the two button doesn't work when pressing enter, then:
a. go to that part in the bat file and memorise or note down the directory it shows as default for installation. then:
b. Open a blank notepad. open the bat file with it. Then find the part in the text with the default location that you remembered. Change it to whatever location you want it to go to. REMEMBER TO SAVE. Then:
c. Restart the bat file and you should see your desired target as the default download location! YAY!
it's working for me so far... this is all done on vista btw.

Then it should work. this is how i fixed my synapse.exe problem (or whatever it was called), my uac problem, my 70-something files missing, and my info file problem. hope this helps :)

If you download a custom map, with OR without any custom textures, all you get is pink and black squares on most of it. Some props that you spawn are unremmovable errors and really would fuck someone up if they are building a perfect base when suddenly it gets ruined by a missing prop that shows up as a big ass flaw in the design!

No, you don't need steam for this torrent. And if someone of you guys have the UAC problem when you are trying to run setup.bat, just open "Run" and write "MSCONFIG" then a new window should open and then click "Tools" and scroll down until you see "Disable UAC" then click it and press "Launch". A CMD window will open wait when it's done, then close the CMD window and close the "MSCONFIG" too. Then reboot your PC and try to start setup.bat again. And if you have admin problem, just go to your download folder "Garry's Mod" and then open the "Install Files" and then simply delete "isadmin.cf2". Then you are done, hope it works for you guys! ;)

3)minimize notepad and go to the ''install files'' folder (inside the garry's mod folder).
4) copy the directory in the ''install files'' folder
and paste it over the ''%CD%/Install Files '' in notepad
for example:
in notepad it said

alright... guys you dont need steam with this and it isnt compatible with steam or xfire in-game either... problems seem to arise when you download maps either from torrent or websites. this version of gmod is missing half-life 2 deathmatch and counterstrike: source models and textures. so when your playing a custom map you will see pink and black checkers everywhere and the sky will look messed up.
to fix this download this torrent
it will take a bit but after you extract with 7zip you go into the cs:s folder and you will see halflife and counterstrike folder take everything from that.. models. textures. .etc
make sure you have a backup of your gmod folder incase something goes wrong(like the main menu not working)
copy and paste into gmod directory for maps textures models...
and restart gmod now it willl work perfectly just like you buying the game

For Those of You Who use lame versions of windows (wich include pirates and hacker editions) and those that dont Support .bat files i have a piece of advice if your instalation says something like "You dont Have ADMIN priviliges go f**k yourself (and you actualy have em) do the next Thing:
1) Change the isadmin.cf2 file (in the Instal Files directory) to the isadmin.exe (just write .exe instead of .cf2) Because of your Windows The .bat instalation doesnt support auto change Format and when your done your instalation will start have fun playin!! :)

Guys i figured it out! if you are using a Windows 7 32/64 bit, simply right click at the Setup.bat and choose Edit.. After that change the following lines to make the install program work:
set DR="your path where the garrys mod is\Install Files
set ID="set this to where you want to extract the Gmod game
set TD=%HOMEDRIVE%\GMD-TMP
keep TD default.

Theres a big problem for me, Many (i mean almost all) of the textures arent there, it comes up with a purple and black checkerboard pattern, things have it like, the phys gun, all rag dolls, some NPC's and they say "error" when i spawn them, Most items like the busted up cars on the HL2 Vehicles (non motor ones) they also have the purple and black tecture, other then that it start up fine and loads good, its just a texture problem im having, can someone reply and help me out with this please?

If previous step fails, You can also try opening cmd and dragging setup.bat to the console and pressing enter.
Lastly, if steam is running in the background and the game doesn't open or quits on you, close steam.

This should solve any problems you have:
If the installer is complaining about UAC, then run it as an admin. If it still complains, press Y and restart. Last thing you can try is deleting line 13-37 of the installer batch, and then running it.
Next. If it's complaining about debug2.exe not existing, then have no fear! debug2.exe is actually completely unrelated and you don't need it.
Just right click the installer batch, go to line 9 (set DR... etc..) and make it point to your 'Install Files' folder. However, instead of making it the usual 'C:\Users\Etc..', it must read:
set DR=%HOMEDRIVE%\Garry's Mod\Install Files
This is just an example. It can be wherever you want, as long as you substitute 'C:\' for '%HOMEDRIVE%\

Ok i was having some trouble with the setup where it would display the debug2.exe error, and i tried to use EvoBrit's solution, but i coulnt figure it out. By trial and error, this is what i got.
In line 9 where Evobrit tells us to change it, i changed it to:
set DR=%C:%UsersLAWSZAddiGameGarry's ModInstall Files
C: is my home drive, LAWSZ is my user folder, and AddiGame is where i put the Garry's mod folder. I went to the Install Files folder and copied the address (C:UsersLAWSZAddiGameGarry's ModInstall Files) and put in line 9 after set DR=. Then i put % around my home drive (C:) and saved it. After running it as admin, it did not blow through the installation displaying the debug2.exe as before, but started extracting the files like it should. It's not done, but i think it works. Try it!
To recap, put %C: (or homedrive)%UsersLAWSZAddiGame (or wherever you saved the Garry's Mod folder)Garry's ModInstall Files
in front of line 9 (set DR=...)
Let me know if it works for you.

Here is how to fix it , easy , quick and working 100%:
1- Cut the file "Garry's Mod" and paste it in c:/program Files/Valve.
2- Open that file , open "Install files" , then open source.cf2 using "WinRAR".
3- copy ALL the files there , and paste em' in c:/Program Files/Valve/Garry's Mod
4- And now , run setup.bat from c:/Program Files/Valve/Garry's Mod and Enjoy.

The simplest way to get rid of the debug2.exe error:
Close the error window and it should work.
UAC Error fix:
1. Open Setup.bat with notepad.
Right click-Edit
2. Delete lines 13-37
37th line should say: csl or cls.
3. Edit line 9 and 10 (I think)
Should say: Set DL=%... and Set ID=%...
Enter this into the 9th line:
(Paste after the = sign.)
And paste to the 10th line: (drive letter):/(folder name)/Garry's Mod
Folder name is optional. Just copy the file path to the GMod folder.
4. Run Setup.bat
5. Type in "1" (exclude quotes) then press enter.
6. Download DirectX doohickies.
7. Should be good to go.

Hey there guys, I've been checking the intaller...
well, I can't really say why it isnt working for some people.
But if you want to install it you can do it manually:
1-Rename source.cf2 to source.exe
2-Rename garrysmod.cf5 to garrysmod.nz
3-Rename hl2.cf5 to hl2.nz
4-Rename hl2_materials.cf5 to hl2_materials.nz
5-Run source.exe and chose the directory to extract
6-Once source.exe is extracted go to the directory chosen on step 5 and create the fallowing directories:
hl2
garrysmod
hl2materials
7-Now run CMD.exe with adm. priv. (in case you dont know how to do it, in W7 just press Start and type cmd, right click it and done.)
8-Edit this: Ysynapsedebug2.exe x -y -o"Ygarrysmod" "XGarry's ModInstall Filesgarrysmod.nz"
Y = Directory you chose on step 5
X = Directory where you downloaded the file
9-Repeat step 8 with the fallowing commands:
Ysynapsedebug2.exe x -y -o"Yhl2" "XGarry's ModInstall Fileshl2.nz"
Ydebug2.exe x -y -o"Yhl2materials" "XGarry's ModInstall Fileshl2_materials.nz"
I'm doing it right now, it is working well.

What I told before works fine, but theres another thing that some people might not have noticed is, the setup.bat rename the files and if you are uploading the files via your torrent manager you cant rename it, so you need to pause/stop upload and only then run setup.bat

ok guys i found a kind of short cut if you find that no matter what you can't get admin privilges or whatever you go and EDIT the bat file and just on the first few lines you should see this....
"echo -Checking administrative privileges..."
this line is key. follow
1. Locate line "echo -Checking administrative privileges..."
2. copy the .bat just in case it don't work
3. delete lines from "echo -Checking administrative privileges..." TO LINE "IF EXIST "%ID%hl2.exe" goto exist" this line is just above this line "goto installation"
4. do not leave any blank lines
5. save the file as... say... Setup2.bat
6. execute and you should go right to installing
