If you're requested to insert a disk during the installation just copy the files to an hdd and boot it from there, it's the only solution i've found.

IMPORTANT. ignore any external links posted.
To install, run the acad.msi found in the x86 or x64 folders. do not use the autoplay install. worked great for me.

How to Install on 32-bit Computers
Remove any previous version of AutoCad and Autodesk DWF Viewer.
Reboot the computer.
Manually set a restore point on your PC [optional but highly recommended].
For Windows XP, to set a restore point:
Click Start button\Help and Support
Click "-->Undo changes to your computer with System Restore"
Select "Create a Restore Point". Click Next.
Give the restore point a description such as "Before Acad2008 install"
Click the Create button.
Notice the named restore point is date and time stamped for easy future reference.
Insert the Acad2008 DVD.
IMPORTANT -->If your PC auto-runs the Acad2008 Setup initialization program:
Exit out when it's finished loading.
We don't want to install Acad2008 this way!
Open Windows Explorer. Go to the x86 folder on the DVD and run (double-click on) acad.msi .
Click Next on the Intro screen.
Accept the license agreement [unless you're a moron].
Enter bogus info in each field on the User Info screen. Click Next.
Select "Typical" for the installation type. Click Next.
Select whatever optional tools you want [just select both... duh]. Click Next.
Leave the install path alone unless you really must install it somewhere else. Click Next.
Select a text editor. Click Next.
Click Next to begin the installation. Click Finish when it's done.

Start AutoCAD 2008 and select Activate the Product.
Enter a serial number: use 666-69696969 or 666-98989898 or 653-12354321 (probably any number works).
Make sure the "Enter Activation Code" and "Paste Activation Code" buttons are selected.
Run the keygen from Windows Explorer (in the "Crack_Acad2008" folder on the DVD).
Select and copy the Request Code as shown at the top of the Acad activation screen.
Paste it into the Request Code box in the keygen.
Click Calculate to generate a valid activation code - appears in the keygen's "Auth Code" box.
Select and Copy the generated Code from the keygen.
Click in the activation code area in Acad and paste (ctrl-v) the copied code. Click Next.
Click Finish. The registration process is complete.
AutoCad 2008 runs. Select "Maybe Later" then Click OK.
When AutoCad finishes loading (the crosshairs appear) exit out of AutoCAD.
That's about it.

It is a great upload indeed. I know I am posting this 1 year late, but I have to say:
This is 100% clean and working. It is actually 2 awesome software in the same download. PowerISO is a great image tool.
For the newbies out there: It works. Listen to perion666. Here are some inter-line extra instructions. After perion666 said "Insert the Acad2008 DVD." read these:
You can do this either via previously-image-burned DVD or
via Image-mounted using PowerISO software included in downloaded folder named "PowerISOv4.0")
-If you're installing via Image-mounted using PowerISO (this is actually what I did):
First extract .rar files. You may just right-click on "acad08.part01.rar" and select "Extract to acad08\"
Then Your WinZip -or similar software- will create a folder automatically with the image (file extension ".daa") inside.
Now open "PowerISOv4.0" folder and istall the PowerISO v4.0.exe on your PC. The istallation is self-explanatory,
so just follow onscreen instructions) Use the name and key activation provided in the "key-power-iso.txt" file.
Once installed, open PowerISO and follow its Help instructions to mount the image (.daa) file
(which is a PowerISO file containing Autocad 2008 installation DVD) When the image is mounted, PowerISO allows you to explore
files within the image file like you would see in an extra CD-rom (even when you don't have it phisically in your PC)
Then continue where perion666 says: "IMPORTANT..."

i had to do a bit of a struggle but eventually got it to work.
OS: Win7 ult x86
in order to work (in my case at least) i had to extract all the content of the image to my desktop and install using setup.exe.
