The end of banks and the end of slavery

An extract from the BBC Radio 4 program The World Tonight of Tuesday 29th Of July 2008. We meet the recent purchaser of an appartment for 500,000 US dollars. A year after buying the property the property has fallen by 200,000 in value yet they are still owing a mortgage for a property worth 500,000 They can afford to keep paying the mortgage each month but it doesnt make any sense. What does make sense is to just stop paying and wait for the bank to repossess the appartment. Legally the bank cannot pursue them for any the debt they owe. A banking expert extimates that if people keep doing this it would cost the banks a trillion dollars and it would cause the banks to collapse. Yeah! Then we might have a taste of freedom! Its a great insight into how much power people actually have and how we are complicit in our own slavery. Enjoy and spread the word.
