Had the same problem. Solution: make the bootable CD with Apple's disc utilty. Drag the iso.cdr image into the lower left side of the window and burn it.

i also couldnt boot from the 1st cd... hope you read this before you try! take maxmatrix's advice! i managed to find another older set of cds i had burned from another source.. and they worked! good luck!

I have tried to burn it on mac and it still wont boot up :( Any advices?
