OK people, to play on full screen go to documents/mygames/skyrim
edit skyrimprefs.ini with notepad and change
bFull Screen=1
iSize W=1920
iSize H=1080
Numbers vary for different resolutions, just type the max resolution of your monitor, the numbers above are for 1080p res.
I hope this will be only temporary solution since we cant change anything else either, this will do for those who are not patient :)

here's the bug fix.
For the resolutiona nd the windowed mode bug,you need to do the following:
Go to: X:\Documents and Settings\home\My Documents\My Games\Skyrim\SkyrimPrefs.ini
and change:
bFull Screen=1 - for Full Screen
and resolution
iSize H=900
iSize W=1440
(whatsoeva ur resolution is.)

@BEEFDOG , i had the same problem, make a folder on your desktop and extract it all there :) I'm guessing you're trying to extract it to your program files, right next to Fallout New Vegas & Oblivion right...? Well after it's all extracted to your desktop, copy it over to the program files =D Hope this has helped

Go to your config screen -> hardware and sound -> click on sound -> rightclick on the speakers/soundcard etc. -> go to config, advanced and change one on the dropdown to 24bit, 48000Hz.
change the bffullscreen line to 1, and then
change the two lines below it to 1200 then 1920 (at least for me.
its opposite for some reason, remember 1200 by 1920 not 1920x1200 like usual.

Thing is, if you have the steam PRELOAD, as in you legitley bought the game off steam or have just copy pasted the preload, all the ini files etc are still encrypted, and you have no sim file. Anyone who has the steam preload youll just have to wait or download the razor version.

For thos having problems with the screen size -- the ini file is located in your My documents\My Games\Skyrim\SkyrimPrefs.ini -- Open that file in Notepad - then under the [Display] section find
bFull Screen=1
iSize H=1080
iSize W=1920
Change the bFullScreen to =1 to make the game full screen and set the iSize H and iSize W to your monitor resolution size -- Save the file and relaunch the game it will be Full screen in the Res you entered !

Worked great! Followed your instructions on page 6 and I didn't have any issues.
Only bad thing so far that I have noticed is the game is setup to be played with a controller. I'll try it later with my xbox controller. A lot of things on the list arent clickable. (ie the items/spells/skills list)

I can get to the menu and click new game, then all the text disappears and it just shows the skyrim logo and some smoke.
The main theme also start playing but nothing happens after that.

@6EELZE6U6666 its a steam file extractor just dl it from piratebay then open it/instruments - update content, after updating go: instruments - SID Unpacker/find the location of .sim file (should be in your iso folder, just extract the whole thing)/select the content and language files then press unpack and paste the crack and voilá ... at least thats how i did it :)

Here are some instructions on how to use Phoenix to install Skyrim
Download:

6. Run phoenix AS ADMIN and point to instruments --> Update content discription record -> internet.
7. Now to unpack, Point to instruments again and click SID unpacker. Browse by clicking the ... next to SIM file and find the Skyrim directory that you unpacked into from the original Skyrim DVD download. There will be a file in there with a .SIM extension...select that file
8. Set destination folder to wherever you want the game installed at.
9. Hit the button that says Scan a SIM file, you should now see Skyrim under available games...click on Skyrim and it will highlight itself as well as 'skyrim content' and 'skyrim english'.
10. Hit unpack and wait for it to finish...once its done you may see an error message about the registry but dont worry about that...when its completed itll take you back to phoenix..just close out of the program.
11. Copy the contents of this crack into the installation directory that you unpacked the SIM file into.
12. Run TESV.exe ...play game..enjoy...and stop bitching because for fucks sake man, its an amazingly awesome and amazingly free game given to you by amazingly kick ass people working their asses off

one thing I had to do on that INI file was change the permissions so that USERS had full access...it wouldn't let me save it until I did that....and as a follow up to all this BS..I did everything that everyone said to do and my game is working perfectly so, if you guys are still having problems I would pay close attention to what everyone is saying and maybe even start from scratch and make sure every step is followed perfectly...I'm about an hour into the game and it is absolutely fantastic

Oh, here's a fixed version of the Launcher for 32-bit and 64-bit.

To fix the full-screen issue:
1. Go to My Games\Skyrim
2. Open SkyrimPrefs.ini in notepad
3. Find the following and change as necessary:
bFull Screen=1
iSize H=1080
iSize W=1920
Restart using TESV.exe

For the "fullscreen" issue..
Install the game (I installed the Skidrow version using Phoenix).
After installing, click on SkyrimLauncher.exe and click "Install" (yes, "Options" is greyed out). It will immediately detect that Skyrim has been installed and allow you to click on "Options" to change the resolution and such. I am running at 1920x1080 on Windows 7 Ultimate 64 bit with no issues.

If anyone has had problems with the text missing or "Lookup Failed!" it is definitely registry related. I had installed a second copy to a new directory then changed the registry to the new path and it worked fine.
I'm having a second problem with using the Favourites key (Q); cannot seem to equip with my main hand. only secondary or [L]. anyone fixed this?

I still crash when I get into the prison (right after the cart opening scene). My sound is fixed (24 bit) and i'm playing in fullscreen. It just crashes without any messages at all, just simply crash down and I have to start over and it repeats crashing, any idea of what might be wrong? :o

Alright, since everyone insisted on sidestepping solving the problem and not being specific enough...
To fix the screen resolution, the pref file in the installation folder named 'skyrim' is NOT the right one.
The right prefs file is located under My Games/Skyrim, change THAT file to 'bFull Screen=1' and the height and width to match your screen resolution.

I dare you to help me fix this. There is this line between the intro cave and Riverwood. If I cross this line the game crashes, no error, nothing.

Best way to fix the screen problem is to leave full size at 0 and the sizew and sizeh mess with them a little until you get your screen size.

There is a skyrim exe and a skyrim launcher exe , the skyrim exe takes you straight to game which i do not belive you can change graphics in game. skyrim launcher tho will open a window before game runs and has settings options there -cheers

Try setting all your graphics low and screen resolution to the lowest (probably 800x600)
If this helps and you know u can run the game in good graphics then start with just one of the graphics settings and turn it up , restart , if it works bring another graphics option up. rinse and repeat

download and put this into your "the elderscrolls" folder thats in your programfilesx86. then go to your "my documents" and then "my games" then "skyrim" and open "skyrimprefs.ini" (make sure you have admin privs on) and find [Launcher]. under that, make sure that "bEnableFileSelection" is set to 1. if its not there, make a line and create it. save and exit. start up this file you downloaded and apply mods. you can also make it fullscreen and tamper with the textures and quality if you like

You need to go to: Documents>MyGames>Skyrim>SkyrimPrefs
Find these lines in the config
bFull Screen=1
iSize H=400
iSize W=600
Change them to
bFull Screen=1
iSize H=XXXX
iSize W=XXXX
XXXX is your resolution. NOTE: Changing the SkyrimPrefs in ProgramFiles will not affect anything, you need to edit the SkyrimPrefs found in Documents.
