For some reason the patch included didn't work. However updating through game menu and crack worked just fine. XP SP3 GeForce 9600 GT
It crashed on character creation screen, but adding
DisableVertexBufferObjects=1
to the graphics option section of swkotor.ini file repaired that issue. Still from time to time game crashes, but loading times are pretty fast.

I downloaded the program, put it on four discs and downloaded the patch to make it work on windows 7. however the program will not work beyond the (out of game) start menu...please help

I installed the game and put this patch on and wen i got to the menu no musique plays, its not full screen and the only button that shows is the exit button and i cant even press it.

im new at this and dont really know what im doing i have it downloaded and installed but when i try to run it it goes to an error screen and shuts the program down, what can i do to fix this?

For those who cannot install because of 4th disc requirement, there is this.
Copy all contents of CD 1 to a temporary folder, as mentioned by Asimov (cheers mate).
From CDs 2, 3 and 4 copy the data*.cab files (data3.cab, data4.cab and data5.cab respectively) to the same temporary folder. From CD 4 copy also the "Extras" folder.
Open the "setup.inx" file with a hex editor (I used a demo version of UltraEdit). Do a search for "autorun.inf" in "ASCII" mode and you will find two entries. Now all you have to do is rename those entries replacing one character (I changed them to "autoruk.inf"). *Important*: Do not add or delete any character, because you will make your file unusable. Save your file as "setup.inx" (If you use UltraEdit, the program will automatically save your original file as "setup.inx.bak". You don't need this file.)
Next, make a copy of "autorun.inf" and rename the copy to "autoruk.inf". Edit the new file and replace the entries
