i386 of corse

ipscream (2009-04-23)

why download it from here when there could be a chance that this version could be trojaned before it was uploaded here ? , it still amazes me how naive people are!
i only see 2 reasons why this torrent was uploaded here
1. there is a kid that just learned how to make torrents
2. some guy trojaned it to get hacked hosts.
its faster and more secure to download if from
http://www.ubuntu.com/

OmniNegro (2009-04-23)

What mirror has this? I have checked several and none have it yet.
I am downloading this now and will seed until the release is available for me to verify the md5.
If it is correct I will continue seeding. If not I will be back to inform everyone about the trickery.

Images are distributed here so that mirrors can pick them up in time before release. Images here may not be final even if they look as if they are; by distributing pre-release images here we can make final mirroring faster.
Please do not attempt to download images directly from this directory; by doing so, you are likely to contribute to delaying the release for everyone else, since we will have to wait longer for worldwide mirroring to complete.

cpyles07 (2009-04-23)

The reason it is up here is because on release day you cant get a good speed from the mirrors unless you jump on as soon as its put up. If those of you who are making accusations had half a brain you would know that. Thanks adellle it is appreciated.

Sidewinder11055 (2009-05-03)

SableSlayer is correct above:
http://releases.ubuntu.com/releases/9.04/ubuntu-9.04-desktop-i386.iso.torrent

3779 Seeds and 409 peers as I write.
At current speed 617 kB/s about a 20 min. download.
Cheers,
Side

Ok, so do I need to uninstall windows for this to work? I've heard something about dividing your hardrive, so you can have both, and just boot this version, not sure what that's about though. If that's true, how do I do that?

silox2 (2009-05-17)

@mj0428:
You can have a partition(s) on your drive which is kept separate from Windows.
Here's a link from PC World that may help you:
http://www.pcworld.com/article/73826/stepbystep_partition_your_hard_drive.html

Also I am sure you can some software that will help you out as well. You just gotta look around.

lazydude906 (2009-06-03)

Man.. Long live Ubuntu!
I'm still rockin' the 8.10 desktop edition, and it's awesome. After a long time Windows-user, I am still trying to get to know the terminal and the new file extensions, like .tar.gz or .deb
I'm gonna' have to try this one out but I don't want to lose all my applications and my awesome theme that took me forever to get.

antonys204 (2009-08-02)

ipscream ur a complete idiot
FASTER SPEEDS
btw its a gr8 torrent i got as my main computer now ;)

skbach (2009-08-06)

ipscream:
I'm currently downloading from Utorrent at 1.3 MB/sec...Ubunutu.com was coming at a pathetic 65k/sec...
Why do you think people prefer this?

x3r0kool (2009-10-01)

For clarification, yes, it is risky to get an OS from this place, however, I'm trying to find an older release, or just one that can fit on a CD (700MB). I dig and dig through the linux hosters, but its all about the latest and greatest and the live CD formats. I just need a basic OS that fits on a CD, and its not even for me, so Hey, Trojan the hell out of it. I don't care. Any who download know that its just as risky as diving into a shallow pool with no life guard, so let us.
Thanks adelle
