Description:

Garmin China City Navigator V6.0 (Eng) Due to China government policy the map has an offset off ca. 300-500m, that can be corrected by the original sofware delivered with the original Garmin device. there is no CD of this software on the market only delivered by SD-Card with the Garmin device. Correction can be achieved by recalibrating each map (Mapedit). By SOS

Can anybody make this re-calibration, without loosing data and the routing abilities? Usually if the converted into an mp file re-calibrated and re-converted mapdetails maybe lost and routing errors may occur.

Zorkin (2008-05-28)

You can recalibrate in Mapedit, and using PopeJ's method not lose the search and routing functionality - the problem is this is an NT map. Mapedit won't read NT maps, and I cannot find anything that does...

 Olafsos (2008-05-28)

Zorkin, I know, so what is the PopeJ's method?
I would like to do it, if you know it better and easier then you can do it an repost it? Otherwise let me know pls.

Check out
http://www.garniak.pl/viewtopic.php?p=14677

Basically, reconstructing the preview map with a more detailed basemap brings back some of the searchability, very useful.
I wish I could sort this out - have been trying - but cannot find any way to open up the NT maps. Once in mapedit, easy - use shift transformation and take two waypoints (use Google Earth) to calibrate. But all of this is academic without being able to open the IMG file.

Hello Zorkin, it seems to be possible by converting them in mp format first. Please read this forum and make it possible. In this forum are re-calibrated img files, I downloaded them but their are not complete.

Also this forum here are some maps posted. And described how it can work.

Alright, let me have a look - thanks for the links...

Zorkin (2008-05-31)

Dude! I made some headway...
Read through the forums, damn gave me a headache - downloaded one of the corrected areas .mp files, and then basically recompiled it with routing data using Rotweillers' method -
http://rotweilermaps.com/files/RotweilersAuto-routingGuide.pdf

I'm happy to report that the recompiled map is routable! Still need to figure out some issues - I seem to have lost POI names (I'm sure that's language related chinese / english) and need to figure out how the hell the dictionary function in cGPSmapper works - but I seem to be on the right track...

Zorkin (2008-05-31)

Just noticed that the north axis (latitude) is out by about 1.2' - needs to be recalibrated a little.

 Olafsos (2008-05-31)

Hi, good to hear, I am not that much computer skilled. Once you have them reclaibrated and fixed can you re-post them? Would be great.

 Olafsos (2008-06-19)

I have fixed the China CityNavigator V6.5 (CHN) version for the 300-500m shift, the problem is that only the chinese version exsist as none NT Format. That means I cannot translate all the Maps in Pinyin.
Anyway I have released fixed Maps for the Guangdong Province in Chinese, I am about to translate this Map because it is the biggest and most important one for Foreigners living in China.
