Enoch Powell was probably the most intelligent MP of the 20th Century. His arguments were carefully thought out and lucidly expounded. He was never a racist - only those who don't think call him that. He was however too intellectually honest to get the support of the rather silly Ted Heath. A pity as Powell would have made an exceptional PM.
