VLC has to fix the AVI index every time it opens this file. It does it quickly, but it looks like the original rip is a bit messed up.

gn0s1s (2010-01-12)

Got it to play just fine using Quicktime/Perian. VLC seems to be the only one who has the index issue, I was able to seek/scrub in Quicktime just fine.

Thx for sharing.
This movie is great, I saw it when I was a young kid. Movies like this well never be made again unfortunately.

Plays in VLC just fine after VLC interrogation about the need to rebuild the AVI index. Dim picture with low contrast, but that's how TV actually was back in the day, so no problems at all with quality, seems like the best CATV offered in the golden age of analog!
Telling VLC not to rebuild the index appears to work just fine at all - no audio sync problems if you just straight play the thing.
Was probably reconstructed from a bunch of tiny AVI files distributed over usenet - that's a common source of this error.

thanks.. any copy is better than none. might even search for this at the video store. memories of 80s youth.. asking my mum everyday.. 'are the russians gonna nuke us?' all kids gotta worry about these days is random al-queida events...

This appears to be the longer theatrical version and better quality than others I've seen on TPB, but is a full-screen clip rather than widescreen or letterbox.

Many thanks!

@knick0--This was a Made-for-TV movie in 1983, which means that it was not filmed in 16:9/widescreen/letterbox. This is the way it was filmed, 4:3 is the correct aspect ratio.
