if you look inside of the package you will see a script that prevents the vanilla kernel from installing
before you comment on something you should know what you are talking about
and look further and really see what is in the update

It works for me.Thanks.
After finish the 10.5.3 insatallation,it will require reboot.
At the middle of reboot,it will black screen and reboot itself.Don't panic,After that everything will be fine. :-)

Doesn't work for my Hacintosh. Leopard-10.5.2-AMD-EFI-Rev2, Athlon 3000 SSE3 , Asus A8N-E nForce 4 ultra, 4x512 PC3200 DDR400, 8600 GTS. Appears a message after beginning of instalation "Install Failed. The Installer could not validate the contents of the 'MacOSUpd10.5.3' package. Contact the software manufacturer for assistance." What can I do?

I think something is wrong with this update, I installed it on my Zephyroth 10.5.1 leopard machine it installs great,
but at the end of the installation it get's to 'Running Installer Script'
It says 'Install time remaining: About a minute'
But its been there for agessssss... I manually restarted my computer and and it broke my installtion it gets stuck at code signing or something...
So i reinstalled leopard installed again and it's doing the same thing!!!!!!!

I think the problem ekual was having is that he didn't update to 10.5.2 first before installing this. At least thats how it reads in his statement "I installed it on my Zephyroth 10.5.1 leopard machine"... recommend updating to 10.5.2, then 10.5.3. Should work. Works great on mine.
