Description:
Filmen utspelar sig under kolonialkriget mellan engelsmännen och fransmännen i Nordamerika. Kriget tvingar nybyggare och indianer att välja sida. Brittiska officersdöttrarna Cora och Alice hamnar mitt emellan de stridande och räddas av mohikanen Hawkeye, en övergiven nybyggarson som uppfostrats av indianerna. Mellan Cora och Hawkeye spirar en romans som innebär problem, dels för att Hawkeye nästan är indian, dels för att han vägrar välja sida i kriget och hellre följer sin egen väg.
