RIAA Training Video: Prosecution of Music Piracy

This training video, made by NDAA-TV, was sent by the RIAA to prosecutors across the nation. This torrent includes a rip of the DVD, and a scanned version of the letter which was sent along with the DVD. Quite frankly, the entire thing is freaking hilarious. Because whoever ripped the DVD was a moron, that's why. Your first clue should have been that they chose to use mp4. Not bad in and of itself, but totally unsuited for this kind of distro.

After 5 minutes, I couldn't stomach anymore. Terrorism, murder, drugs, arms dealing? Basically all the worst crimes you can think of are there because of music piracy? Get real. Which terrorist am I supporting if I download a song? Who do I kill if I download a song? How many drugs do I bring into my country if I download a song? How many guns do I smuggle and sell if I download a song?
How difficult and dangerous can an undercover music piracy operation be? If I thought the RIAA deserved it, I could go undercover, and not once would I fear for my life. Asking if you want crack, cocaine, heroin, meth, GHB, Tech 9s, Glocks, TNT, to put out a hit on somebody, etc if you buy a CD? Come on. Sure, I believe there are "entrepeneurs" out there that do pretty much anything, but how many are they? Just my igamination talking here: 1 million people are "pirates". Let's say 100 000 of these are also using heavy drugs. Weed/grass/marijuana/pot is not. Of these 100 000 people, maybe 100 is partially supporting their drug habit by burning CDs and selling them. Of these 100, there may be 1 who gets so paranoid from the drugs, s/he buys guns to protect him-/herself. That is 1/1000 000th of the "pirates". I believe law enforcement would do better investigating the RIAA for irregularities, tax fraud, breach of contracts and other unlawful behavior than trying to investigate that 1/1000 000. Sadly, it seems politicians can be bought into believing anything. I think we'd all be better off with a bunch of 13-year olds voting for laws on technology. At least they know how it works, as opposed to 60- and 70-year old politicians that thinks TV is the devil's toy. (Over-exaggeration there)
I urge everyone to watch this movie with an open mind. Don't drink the Kool-Aid they are giving you, but think for yourself. And here is a few questions to ponder while doing so: Have you downloaded music through P2P? Have you burnt a CD and given it to friends, or asked to be paid for the blank CD and the time? Have others you know done the same? Have you, or anyone you know, comitted felony because of this?

everybody i know that sells bootleg dvds first rent them from places like blockbuster and decrypt and rip them to their pcs and burn them......

you can never stop piracy, i dont give a flying fuck about who it hurts everytime i download an episode of the simpsons, to me its like having cable tv without having to pay 30 bucks a month... seriously everytime i download a song i dont do anything other than listen to it myself
if there were no peer to peer filesharing sites and all torrenting was banned i still would never buy any song or dvd.. so they are never going to get any money from me either way
