Superbly crafted, with a perfect balance of quality musicianship, vocal talent, and modern programming. It just signals sheer class from the first listening, and does not wear thin over repeated plays. If you like nujazz, then treat yourself to this. It has a smokey, oily and slightly disheveled flavour to it, mixed with a very contemporary vibe. Coming from the Sonar Kollectiv stable, you know its going to be good, but this has got to be one of their real jewels. Micatone are: Lisa Bassenge - vocal: Lisa Bassenge is 30 years old; she has her own jazz trio where you can also hear Paul Kleber on upright bass. In 2004 they recorded their third critically acclaimed album \\\\\\\\\\\\\\\"three\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\". Lisa Bassenge is also singing with the german band \\\\\\\\\\\\\\\"nylon\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\". Paul Kleber - bass, percussion: Paul Kleber studied classical and jazz doublebass but he likes playing jazz much more. Besides the Lisa Bassenge Trio he also recorded two CDs with Nylon and two with Jazz Indeed. During Micatone shows you can see him also playing triangle and drums on a second drumset together with Tim. Boris Meinhold - guitar, electronics: Boris Meinhold worked as a studio and session guitar player until he noticed that the music he liked listening to almost never contained guitars. As a consequence he started working with samplers and computers and founded Micatone in 1999. Besides Micatone he is scoring for movies (Fatih Akin etc.) and produced 2 Ep´s and several remixes together with Sonarkollektiv artist Eva Be. Tim Kroker - drums: Tim Kroker is the only member of Micatone not from Berlin, originally coming from Frankfurt a. M. Besides Micatone he also plays with the Belgian band Front 242. You can listen to his drums on the band´s actual live album. In 2004/05 he played a couple of concerts with Annette Humpes ( ex-Ideal) new Band \\\\\\\\\\\\\\\" Ich & Ich\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\" Sebastian \\\\\\\\\\\\\\\"Hagen\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\" Demmin - keyboards: Hagen was working and producing for the Berlin Techno and House Label\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\"Formaldehyd\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\" and was playing keyboards for Ricardo Villalobos, Ellen Alien, The \\\\\\\\\\\\\\\"Lotter-Boys\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\", Ramesh B.Weeratunga, Jesse Ballard, Terranova, Jan Driver, Daft Punk etc... Since 2000 he is a member of Berlins \\\\\\\\\\\\\\\"Space Funk\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\" Project \\\\\\\\\\\\\\\"Shank\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\" and he is producing and playing for \\\\\\\\\\\\\\\"Nylon\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\", the \\\\\\\\\\\\\\\"New German Chanson-Project\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\", also with Paul and Lisa from \\\\\\\\\\\\\\\"Micatone\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\"
