Hi - does anyone know how to crack the security pin code for the garmin. I was given a 310 that has been locked.

This is not for total nebie!!!
If yourmap image file won't open on your unit, and you got "can't unlock with device id:xxxxxx, or similar messege. There is a solution.
The problem is the unlock code stored in the map image was not specificly created for your unit.To solve this you have 1) change or add the code(you can generate with the keygen) into the map, 2) Create gmapsupp.unl file contained the code, and put it in your garmin folder in your sd card.
How to:
1.Add new code to map image:
a. Using gmt, command: gmt -w -u xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx gmapsupp.img
(xxxx=the generated code)
b. Use "gmaptool" graphic version of gmt.
Select join option, remove or add new unlock key.
2)how to create gmapsupp.unl?
use note pad, paste the code you generate for your unit, and save as gmapsupp.unl.
You're done.
