Yes, this will fit for Garmin nuvi 760. Just copy gmapprom.img into the Nuvi and generate key for your device Unit_ID. Write the key in gmapprom.unl file and place it together with gmapprom.img. Both files gmapprom.img and gmapprom.unl must be in folder /garmin.

These are not imagefiles in traditionally forms. It´s files that shoul be puttet in the garmin-folder on you gps.

One thing I did to unlock Europe NT 2009 I uninstalled Europe NT 2008 and reinstalled it. I didn?t do any updates for MapSource after I reinstalled it so this way I didn?t have to go online and unlock my Europe 2009. I just went to utilities/unlock maps/ and did the rest

I have reason to belive, that this is CN 2008 NT and not 2009.
First I have extracted all maps with GMapTool and got all files for use in Mapsource. It gives me 222 separate cards and in Mapsource they are ALL identified as CN Europe NT 2008.
Secondly, if I look at things in my naiborghood that schould have bee chanced - nothing is. The separate cards also have the exact same size as in 2008 ...

It's correct the bin-file is bigger and have information about 2009, but if You extract alle cards seperately they all are called 2008 in Mapsource - I havn't defined these labels anywhere and just wonder where these names come from.
Would think its easy to label the bin-file as 2009, but more difficult to re-name all separate cards.

Its possible to change the file via Hex Editor - had one last week that was labled as 2009 and was really 2008.
In Hex edit it shows Copyright 1995 to 2008 -- the 2008 file shows 1995 to 2007.

I believe this is 2009 because of one section of the highway that is on 2009 but not on 2008. There are also a few more updates on 2009 (2 roundabouts and 2 roads) that do not exist on 2008. So if you ask me this is 2009.

I had some troubles unlocking, but found out that I had to generate (thank you jetmouse) 2 separate keys, one for mapID 284 and one for mapID 378 and put them together in the right order when creating the gmapsupp.unl

One thing I tested and it worked;
I renamed gmapprom.img to gmapsupp.img then I created key for my Garmin unit and wrote that new key in gmapsupp.img via GMapTool.
1. Open GMapTool click on Add Files
2. Select gmapsupp.img from your folder
3. Click on write tab and check insert unlock code (paste your generated unlock code in the field)
4. And click on ?write selected? button on the bottom and that should do it. It worked for me.
After completing these steps you can open gmapsupp.img with GMapTool then click on info button on the top to see if your newly written code is in the file, if so it should be unlocked and ready to use.
This was all done on Nuvi 250 via SD card

I've downloaded the thing and made it compatible with Map Source.
How do I replace the existing Garmin City NAvigator (ver. 2007) with this one? I don't want to use the SD card.
I could just simply replace the gmapprom.img file with this one and add the unlock file.

My unit (Nuvi 250) has 2 GB of internal memory, so if I remove the old version, I will be able to install the new one.
The question is only how to remove the old version. Simply replacing it seems to be the only way to go.

I managed to make this 2009 map compatible with MapSource. Everything's fine, but when I scale back to 150 km or above I lose the map and all I see is blank squares and lines??? Really annoying!!!
Has anyone got the same problem?? Also, don't understand what this BaseMap is for! How can the basemap be updated on the device???

The way I got it Up and running on a 760
Using HexEditor (I use HxD Hexeditor) open the gmapsupp.img file.
Search for G5EPJV2WXG6TM3LZL7SK4BD5B
Now open keygen and fill in the unit details (not card) and custom map ID 378 and generate key.
Copy that key and return to HexEditor.
Do Replace in hexedit with the new key and save file. (if you have another map on the Garmin then rename this file to gmapsupp.img)
Copy to 2GB card inside garmin folder and put into Garmin
Or if you want it directly into the Garmin.
Go to My Computer (with Garmin plugged in) open garmin folder and cut the existing gmapprom file and paste it onto your hard drive somewhere (backup if it no work).
then copy and paste the new gmapprom into the garmin directory on the Garmin.
Worked for me - never had any luck with the UNL file.

I've got a DNX-7200 unit.
As far as I know it is not possible to update the maps via DVD, only via SD card. That's why the unit has an SD card slot!
Just transfer the unlocked new map(s) thrugh Garmin Mapsource and insert the card into your unit - simpe as that!

But Everything I have tried for my etrex has not worked. I have moved the img files to SD card, put them in a folder named garmin, and run the keygen a billion times changing the unl file to match, but everytime I run it it says cannot unlock maps. I've tried using the gmaptool like I did for the nuvi, but doesn't work either. I am at a loss for what to do!

to clarify, when I turn my etrex off of USB mode and to read the maps, it gives me a little screen that says "cannot unlock maps" even though I have tried changing the UNL file many times. To note, when I change the file to gmapsupp.unl my etrex can read it (though it tells me that it cannot unlock them) when I leave the file as gmapprom.unl nothing happens at all.

I did it!
First I converted the img file into maps that MapSource can read and understand. Then I cracked the thing and created a new img file.
Then I replaced the base map and the old img file with the new one.

I have explained the procedure above except forget the file gmapbmap.img as this is only the basemap and is not needed. Make sure the new file goes into a folder called garmin.

Why does my Street Pilot c510 say "Cant find maps for automatic route planing" when i try to put these maps on it?? I´ve tried to create a .unl file and i tried to put the key in the .img file with gmaptool but when i start the navi this mess always come up. I´ve also tried renaming the .img file. WTF?

Så får i fejlmeddellelsen "kan ikke låse kortet op til enhedsid xxxxxxxxxxxx" Dette nummer skriver i ind i keygen 1,5 med "custom mapset" = 378 og danner koden til gmapsupp.UNL filen. Det er afprøvet på Nüvi 760, Etrex, Mobile XT til Symbian og PDA samt MobilePC.

I have a nuvi 750 that came with North America 2008. I was able to download the North America 2009 and install on my garmin and it's working perfectly. I also download the Europe 2009 maps so I can use them on my trip this summer.
I have been unable to get the europe maps to work. I download the torrent and got 2 files: gmapprom and gmapbmap. Then, using the unlock program, code the code needed for the map. I copied the key and placed it in a notepad file and named it gmapprom.unl.
I copied all 3 of those filed on to a 2gb sandisk SD card which is now in my garmin. Once the card is in my garmin I am unable to view the Europe maps and I don't even have the option to view them.
Any advice please?

You don't need to use the basemap, it's called "Americas weather" and is routeable on major roads.
DON'T do anything with the Gmapprom.img except renaming it to gmapsupp.img and putting it in a folder Garmin on the root of the SD-card or in a the folder of your Nüvi where gmapprom.img resides. If you put it on your Nüvi you need to delete gmapprom.img.
Don't involve Mapsource in the process

I created a folder on my sd card called "Garmin". I renamed gmapprom to gmapsupp.img. I placed that file in the Garmin folder along with gmapbmap, and the file I created called gmapprom.unl which contains only the code that was generated from the unlock program.
So, I have the Garmin folder on my sd card and then put those 3 files in that folder. When I turn on my nuvi 750 I can use the north american map fine, but I cannot find the europe map or any option to even use it.

Turn "hide file extension of known file types" off and check that the unlock file is not called xxx.unl.txt (Throw away .txt)

Ok I made a change. On my SD Card I now have a folder titled "Garmin" and in that file I have the following: gmapsupp.unl; gmapsupp.img; and gmapbmap.img
I checked to make sure there were no other extensions on the files. I used key gen v1.5 and put in my 10 digit code and generated a key for Europe 2009.
So, now when I turn on my unit it says Can't unlock maps...which it never said before. So I can't access Europe still but North America of course still works.
I am completely stuck.

OK. install mapsource 6.137, not version 6.14! plug in your Garmin device and use the function "get unit ID" to make sure you use the correct number to generate the unlock code in JetMouse keygen. Don't do anything more with Mapsource.

Just to confirm that you are putting the correct info in KeyGen
Stage 1
Turn on you Garmin and push the spanner icon then system then about
You will see Unit ID: 3111111111 ------ 10 digits write this down.
Go back to your computer and open Keygen
Type in your unit ID in the top box then click the top generate button.
Disregard your software unlock code.
Now click on the down arrow for select map product and go to and type in 378 and click the bottom generate button. This is the key that you use in Hexeditor.
With this method you do not use a gmapsupp.unl file so dump that and the gmapbmap file.

Stage 2
Using HexEditor (I use HxD Hexeditor) open the gmapprom.img file.
Search for G5EPJV2WXG6TM3LZL7SK4BD5B
From the KeyGen copy that key from the bottom line and return to HexEditor.
Do Replace in hexedit with the new key and save file. (if you have another map on the Garmin then rename this file to gmapsupp.img)
Copy to 2GB card inside garmin folder and put into Garmin
Or if you want it directly into the Garmin.
Go to My Computer (with Garmin plugged in) open garmin folder and cut the existing gmapprom file and paste it onto your hard drive somewhere (backup if it no work).
then copy and paste the new gmapprom into the garmin directory on the Garmin.

I copied it onto an SD card on my collegues 760 and it works without problems with a seperate .unl file.

Not with this file - ages ago I tried the unl file method and didnt have any luck so I always do the hexedit method - works every time.

For any stupid reason, can't get the SD checksum on nüvi (tried twice in different models), but the "nuvi760" method worked perfectly on my Nüvi 200W and Colorado 300.

Hi, I am new here. I downloaded the two img files of City Navigator 2009 and replaced them in the root of my nuvi250 but it didn't work. I have no *.unl file on my nuvi. I saved the original and put them back and my nuvi250 was allright again. What must i do to work oke ?

What happens if I leave the old map into the internal card and try to use the new map 2009 NT via SD card? Or is it necessary to delete the old map to make the other one work?

juster88: sorry... i didn't mention it... but i tried doing this (putting the file in a folder named garmin) however... still didn't do anything
my garmin didn't even load the map.. it says "maps loading" but it didn't show the progress bar as it has done the other times i tried inputting maps!

Delete the old maps from garmin unit
you only need the gmaproom.img and fix it i hxd editor and then rename it to gmapsupp.img
put that singel file i garmin map in sd-card

Hmm...i need to be able to get this onto an SD-card, witch in turn goes into my Kenwood navigation (manufatured by garmin) Trouble is...i cant seem to find a way to find my specific SD-cards ID-number.
Ive tried using a newish handheld Garmin Nuvi...using the servicemenu...but the push-and-hold-the-clock function only seems to work on the (really) old nuvis...and ive tossed away my old streetpilot years ago...so now im a bit stuck..
Anyone?
Another way would be to get a crack/fix that unlocks all the maps installed via mapsource...like i have been doing before :) BUT...after installing the 2009 dvd...tha included the "new and improved" mapsource program...this "unlock all" doesnt seem to work anymore.
Ive noticed that all my previous maps are located where i chose to unpack them (back then)...but the 2009 map is "hidden away" by the install program (doucments and setings etc.)...and in there...there are no img files that i can see...

If you put the gmapsupp.img file in a folder called Garmin on the root of your SD card, the unit will tell you that the map can't be unlocked by unit ID xxxxxxxx write this number down and use it in the keygen.

Det som jag menade att uppdatera är att man bara uppdaterar 2008 kartan,jag försökte att uppdatera med den uppdatering som jag hämtade från garmins hemsida men fick bara sen UK och Irlands kartor i GPS och det var konstigt.Det var tur att jag gjorde backup på de ursprungliga kartor i GPS.Det finns 2 GB minne i Garmins minne.

Här en beskrivning hur man lägger in kartorna på SD kort på Garmin 760.
*Ladda ner de 2 filerna till datorn(gmapmap.img och gmapprom.img)
*Lägg till en ny mapp på sdkortet och döp den till "GARMIN"
* Flytta över båda filerna till SDkortet
*döp om filen (den stora filen gmapprom) till Gmapsupp.img
*Ladda ner Keygen (garmin unlock 1.5 final) till datorn.
*ta reda på gps id nummer (hittas under inställningar,kartor,om) 10 siffror-skriv ner
*Sätt igång garmin unlock gen och knappa in de 10-sifforna i unit id fältet.
* I select map produkt fältet väljer du i scrolllistean "custom mapset" skriv 378 där
* Map unlock koden skriver du ner
* öppna en ny notpad kopiera in map unlock coden- spara som "Gmapsupp.unl" välj alla filer när du sparar och lägg filen på sdkortet i garmin mappen brevid de andra filerna där.

I've got this working both on my nuvi 760 and Mapsource now, but I have a couple problems:
Suddenly, my nuvi has trouble finding satellites - can this really be related to a new map?
2. When I zoom out in Mapsource (150 km or more), the map disappears.
3. When I create a route in Mapsource and send it to the nuvi, sometimes some waypoints switch place - when I try to edit the route everything looks fine, but when the route is shown they are switched.
4. Sometimes, even though the route looks fine in Mapsource and I even get in a few avoidances, the nuvi chooses shortcuts after I transfer the route.
Any ideas?

Jag har inte provat att lägga filerna direkt på gps:en, men finns det bara tillräkligt med plats funkar det säkert !
Koden som genereras i (garmin unlock 1.5 final) kopierar du in i notepad och välj sedan "spara som" döp filen till "Gmapsupp.unl".
Ska se ut som nedan när du skall spara i notepad !

Det gäller både denna version och mapsource versionen. Jag har provat båda. Ska man t.ex. söka på Spanien i gps:en eller i mapsource så hittar den det inte. Men söker man på España (spanien på spanska) så hittar den det. I version 2008 har jag däremot inga problem med landsnamn. Eller är det jag som gör något fel med 2009?

Jag följde Feverlounges instruktioner från 2008-10-30.
Ett tips: När du byter namn på Gmapprom (stora filen) skriv då inte Gmapsupp.img, utan bara Gmapsupp . Då funkar det.

Nu fungerar det på min Nuvi 760 men språkinställningen är på engelska så åäö har försvunnit. Har försökt ändra språk men det finns inga alternativ till engelska.

OK here it is...an easy way to get your Garmin to have EU maps. Basically you're going to create an SD Map to place in your Garmin which it will recognize as a second map. You are not putting any map into the internal memory of your Garmin.
You need a 2 GB SD memory card. Put the card into your Garmin and retrieve the unique ID of the SD card by pressing on the Battery Charge Status indicator on the Garmin and holding it for 5 seconds or so. (The Battery Charge indicator is on top of the "Where To?/View Map" screen while the Garmin is operating on it's internal battery, it's a little picture of the battery) This will get you into the service mode of your Garmin, when you scroll around, you'll find the SD memory card ID. Write This Down! It is Critical to have this. (It is a 10 digit number like 1856543090) Be advised, you are in a place where you can really screw up your Garmin, be very careful not to mess with anything in this menu area.
The Unit ID of the Garmin itself is of NO USE!!! Do not consider or use the Unit Id of your Garmin for making the SD Map I am discussing here.
On the SD card, create a Garmin directory in windows explorer and place 2 items in it.
The first item is a Gmapsupp.img which this torrent provides, it should be 1.6gb file.
The second item to go in the Garmin directory is a Gmapsupp.unl document. And here is how to create it.
Get the Jetmouse v1.5 Garmin code generator, select Custom Map and use the 378 Map Id and the SD ID you wrote down earlier to create an "Unlock Code". Copy this unlock code to a new text document in Notepad, and name the document "Gmapsupp.unl" Be careful to only have the unlock code (which should look something like this ABA85S6Q7VN3ZRTLCWDE4L6BX) and nothing else in this document, no spaces or anything.
If you have the Gmapsupp.img & Gmapsupp.unl in a Garmin directory on your SD card, all you need to do is put this into your Garmin and you will have EU maps ready for use, check it by going to "Maps-Map Info" and it should be there.
You could put this SD card you created into any Garmin and it will work. It is basically a self contained unlocked map on the SD card based on the SD cards unique SN. Funny thing is that getting the SD card ID number is a real pain in the butt if you don't know the Battery Charge indicator hack.

I got this to work with the 260w and this is what I did.
1. create a directory called "Garmin" on you 2GB SD card.
2. rename gmapprom.img to gmapsupp.img and place it in to the Garmin directory.
3. get the serial number for your SD card using instructions found from ChazInMT on the first page of the comments. Write it down!
4. get the Jetmouse V1.5 from this site and run it.
5. Enter the SD serial number into the "Unit ID" field. Make sure it is in the XT software product option.
6. Select "Custom MapID" option in the Map Product field and enter 378 in the pop up window.
7. Click on the "Generate" button for the Map Prodcut.
8. Copy and paste the Unlock Code for the MAP PRODUCT into a text file and call it "gmapsupp.unl". Make sure there is no "TXT" extension after it.
9. Plase the smapsupp.unl file into the Garmin folder of the SD card.
10. Insert the SD card to your 260w.
11. Power up your 260w. You should be ready to do. If you do NOT see a message saying "Unlock Map Failed" you're good. If not, try generating a different Unlock Code by clicking the "Generate" button again. I did it 3 times.
You can verified the maps is accessiable by looking at the map status.

PS. I'm not sure if the serial number of the SD card was needed cause I did not use the Unlock Code for the Software Prodcut code.
