When Francesco\'s long forgotten Aunt Anita dies in Istanbul, he travels there to look after the sale of the hamam (one of a few traditional Turkish baths left) he inherited. There he meets the family running the hamam, gets attracted to a member of it and the whole Turkish atmosphere and decides not to sell the hamam.. Francesco ärver ett hus i Istanbul av sin moster som han aldrig träffat. Han reser dit för att sälja huset, men när han upptäcker att det i själva verket är en hamam, ett turkiskt bad, börjar han att tveka. Francesco kommer familjen som bor i huset allt närmare och beslutar sig för att stanna ett tag och renovera badet. Dâ dyker hans hustru upp och deras relation ställs pâ sin spets. En film om hur en miljö eller ett sammanhang kan förändra en människa.
