Danny meets Hallorann - the hotel cook in their first day arriving at the Overlook, who also has this "Shining" and he warns him about the hotel and the sinister Room 237. As the days go by, Danny has visions of previous guests and employees who died at the hotel years before, meanwhile Jack starts driving into insanity, turning more and more aggressive, at the point that Danny and Wendy gets convinced that Jack might try to do the same thing, Grady did. There are watermarks that show up a few times on the right lower corner of the screen for a while at 0:02:48 - 0:03:29, 1:09:30 - 1:09:52, 2:19:20 2:19:35, etc.

Um, you're wrong. THIS isn't the final "director's cut." This is the original US cut, minus a scene that served as an epilogue and was a week after the film opened. Kubrick made further cuts before releasing the film in Europe. That final version is 1:59 and represents the "definitive" version of the film if you consider definitive to be the director's ultimate vision.
Also, this is the version on typical US Region 1 DVD releases whereas the 1:59 cut appears on Region 2 DVDs.

Are you serious? You're telling me you would prefer trash like MP4 or WMV? I bet a good portion of your movie collection is probably in MOV files. The MKV format, and to a lesser extent the open source WEBM format, is far more advanced at high quality playback. If you were looking for a file format for your iPad or something, convert it yourself.

Comparing MKV to MP4 is really an apples and oranges thing, when what you really want to talk about is pears.
Matroska is a "container" or "wrapper". MP4 is "format" that defines how audio/video are stored and compressed. However the MP4 file is a container as well as it contains audio and video streams created with specific codecs. XviD, DivX, H.264, Quicktime, AVC, etc are all codecs based on the mpeg-4 standards.
Most movie torrents in both MKV and MP4 file formats contain H.264 or AVC video and AC3 or AAC audio. AVI files tend to use older DivX or XviD codecs.
