33 - Kiko Goifman (2002)

[English] Kiko Goifman always knew he was adopted. At age 33 he finally decides to undertake a journey to find his biological mother, and film it as a documentary. He starts off with the few facts he knows, aided by two private detectives, his adoptive mother, and his wife. He also writes an online diary detailing his activities and findings, which gives him additional tips. The title 33 not only refers to Kiko's age, but also to the famous film noir ".33", the age of Christ - "like Kiko - a Jew" , and other coincidences involving the number 33. [Portuguese] O documentário 33, de Kiko Goifman, utiliza-se da linguagem noir para mostrar a busca do diretor por sua mãe biológica. O nome "33" vem de três fatos relativos a esta procura: Kiko decidiu encontrar a mãe aos 33 anos de idade, sua mãe adotiva nasceu em 1933 e a busca durou exatos 33 dias. O diretor sempre soube que era filho adotivo, mas aos 33 anos decidiu procurar a mãe biológica. A partir de pistas dadas por detetives de São Paulo e Belo Horizonte, o cineasta realizou este filme. Misturando diversos gêneros cinematográficos - entre eles o film noir -, ele não se esquivou dos sentimentos e incluiu a mãe adotiva na busca. 33 mergulha no universo peculiar dos detetives, que atuam num terreno movediço entre o legal e o ilegal, o público e o privado. O filme também tem a participação do público, que acompanhou e ajudou na busca por meio de um diário online mantido pelo diretor.
