The extra small size in this particular case is due to the general lack of size craving colors. It's a dystopic movie, thus there are no colorful stuff like flowers, green grass or blue skies etc, but mostly a greyish tone. As in the case with "The Road" rippers where able to compress blu-rays quite alot.
