Copy what's between the lines into a text editor and save it as wf.reg. Double click it and it will save it to your registry, you should be fine after that.

OK, people... I had all of the above problems but figured it out. Here it is, step by step:
1) Open notepad and paste what is between these lines:

Wildfire]


2) Save the notepad file as wf.reg
3) Mount the disc image
4) Browse disc, right-click setup.exe and run as administrator and install the game
5) Open regedit (run a search for it if you don't know where it is) and search for "wildfire". Make sure this is the correct path and not some other similarly-named software you have installed. It should be "HKEY_CURRENT_USER + Software + IDeal-Games + JA2 Wildfire". Select that folder.
6) Click "File - Import", selecting the "wf.reg" file you made. Import it.
7) Run the patch installer. Instead of browsing to the game's directory, manually type or copy / paste the path. For some reason, the installer would neglect to enter the last part of the path for me when I used the "Browse" button.
Should be good to go! Play away.
