Galactic Civilizations II - Dark Avatar 1 80g (Latest Patch)

This is the newest retail patch for GalCiv2 Dark Avatar that came out on 12/17/2007. It has already been cracked so no registration is necessary. This patch contains all other patches, so this is the ONLY patch you should need. Enjoy.

DelaBoucle is right.
After extracting the Dark Avatar patch to the Dark Avatar folder, it'll ask for an activation if you attempt to run the patched expansion, you cannot simply say, 'remind me later'. In fact they even made a page about this new policy.

So yeah, unless we're missing a step, this patch will not work without actually buying the game, which is only available through download since most retail stores don't seem to sell it anymore, in Canada anyways since the release of Sins.
Unless if I missed a step?

yea i use the gold version, no problem (i see "1.80g Dark Avatar" at the bottom left corner of the GC2DA menu).

Then downloaded this patch, and extracted the contents of the .rar file into "DarkAvatar" folder under the GalCiv2 folder.
Works just fine.

Just downloaded the patch, extracted it to My Documents\DA and then copied everything in the DA folder I made into "C:\Program and hitting "yes to all" when prompted.. Tested the game and had no problems... total patching time: 12 minutes, including finding, downloading, extracting, copying, and testing

Does anyone get the no-fonts problem? I get it all the time and I don't know how to solve it. The readme tells me to download them from the site and I do, but it doesn't help.

I installed the Gold edition, and then simply extracted all the files from this torrent into the GalCiv2\DarkAvatar directory.
It works great!

This patch does NOT work
Aside from the registration stuff mentioned above - which none of us did encounter - the patch does patch the Dread Lord game to 1.8. (although a buddy of mine thinks that it does only change the version number but NO ingame changes, bugfixes whatsoever take place I had no time to check that yet)
However Dark Avatar is NOT affected.
It remains v1.5
By the way I had to reinstall the game once because there is no readme included that you have to extract the files into the /Dark Avatar directory only -_-
A lot of these files are the EXACT same files already present in the directory with the same editing time, the same size etc.
Thumbs down, the will to share is appreciated but this file as a whole sucks nontheless.

The patch DOES work.
all you have to do is start the game from the directory or make a quicklink to desktop, wherever linking to the GC2DarkAvatar in your DA dir and it will work !

I made a copy of the darkavatar dir for safety
but everything seems to be working perfectly
although I still get a msg when running twilight that v1.80c of darkavatar is needed to run twilight. Anyone got a suggestion on how to skip that.

To get rid of the "Dark Avatar needs updating" message when starting Twilight you need to alter DA's version number in the registry after copying over the files from this patch.
Load up regedit and go to:

Just change the version from 1.50 to 1.80g

For all the poor souls who downloaded this patch only to be hit by the activate screen, read on: I downloaded the gal civ ii gold from this site and applied the patch and had the same activate problem. What i did was to simply uninstall stardock central from my computer. After that it launched first time, no problems. Stardock central contains serial information on all its products. This has to go for the cracked patch to work.
