Description:

About: Ribcage is software developed by Flamefusion. It is a navigation program that works similar to the program "Enso" by Humanized. This is not at all a copy of that program or anything, and it is a lot more revolutionary. When the program releases, it will be free of charge, but while it's in pre-alpha stage, it will be posted here as a torrent. Points of interest: Ribcage is in alpha stage (the stage that comes before beta) which means that more features will be added in the future, and that some features may be buggy. Ribcage does not require administrative priviledges to run. Ribcage stores settings in the registry at the following registry path: "HKEY_CURRENT_USERSoftwareFlamefusion". Ribcage is only a single exe file, that will not even have to be installed (This is Flamefusion's policy when developing programs - They should be easy to use). Ribcage stores the file index and addons at the following file path: "%localappdata%Flamefusion". Ribcage uses addons that allow you to add your own custom commands to Ribcage very easily! Contact me at [email protected] /* */ if you wish to get code examples of an addon. In just about 20 lines of code (with any programming language that supports UDP protocols), you will have an addon ready for usage. Ribcage periodically sends usage reports to our developers (approximately 100 bytes of data every 5 minutes), which will not affect your computer's performance in any way. Also, we are aware of your wish of privacy, so the reports only contain the following information: Total processor power, current CPU usage, Total memory, and current Memory usage. Also, the reports contains the amount of milliseconds some methods of the program took to execute. If you do not wish Ribcage to send these reports, simply block port 6789 on your firewall. Ribcage will initialize UDP connections during startup at port 10010 and 10009 for addons. You can easily block these ports if you wish. Ribcage will require an internet-connection for using the Web command. Ribcage will check for updates when starting up. This will require an internet connection if updates are wanted. How to use: Ribcage works 100% using the keyboard. This may sound strange, and not very helpful - but it is! You simply hold down capslock (with your left little-finger which is preferred), and then enter the command you'd like to use, followed by a few parameters that specifies what you'd like to do with the command). You then simply release capslock again, and the specified suggestion selected is executed. See the videos linked to later in this document for better explanation. As an example, if I have a document somewhere on my computer called "My test document", and I'd like to open it, I can simply hold down capslock, write "Op" (Which is even enough for Ribcage to recognize that Open is the command I want to use), then a space, and then "es", a space more, and then "ocu". Since "My test document" contains both "es" and "ocu", the document will show up as the first selected suggestion. I then simply release capslock, and the document is opened. When getting used to using this navigation method, it becomes a habbit, and superior to normal computer navigation. Open is not the only cool and revolutionary command you can use. Later in this document, there's defined a full command-list. Author: Flamefusion (http://flamefusion.net - website is alpha as well, and under construction) Requirements: .NET Framework 3.5 Service Pack 1 (If you have .NET Framework 3.5 without the service pack, it will look like it's working, but it's not at all). Download at: http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?displaylang=en&FamilyID=ab99342f-5d1a-413d-8319-81da479ab0d7 32 bit (or higher) display color settings (Since Ribcage uses advanced graphics and animations on the Windows Presentation foundation platform). About 10 megabytes of free harddrive space (Yes, 10 megabytes), and that's even the maximum usage! An internet connection for special commands such as Web, or for receiving updates from our main-servers. Previews of even earlier versions of the program: Demonstrating Ribcage - The basics & the Open command: Demonstrating Ribcage - The window interacting commands: These preview videos are getting very old, and the program has been improved a lot since they were created. Several new commands have been added that you should really try. Available commands: Configuration - Enters settings and configuration for the program. Consider this as the control-panel of the program. Switch - Switches between windows. See the videos above for more details. Close - Closes specific windows. See the videos above for more details Tray - Adds a window to the system tray even though the window does not even support it! Works with any window! Open - Quickly opens specified files on a computer, and can search through approximately 300 gigabytes of files per second, since it uses advanced indexing technology. Exit - Closes the program. Web - A very revolutionary web navigation method. As an example, writing "Web google.com" would cause all the links on google.com to be displayed directly. From there, the user can then specify the link to enter, or just release capslock to go to the first link. This is a must-try, and works with all websites that follow the open standards for Hyper Text Markup Language syntax. Reindex - Re-establishes the file index of Ribcage, to update any entries that exist, and add new ones. Capslock - Turns capslock on or off (This may sound retarded, but it's not. See later in this document why). Help - Under construction as of this build. Will be added right before the program releases to the public. About - Shows who made the program, and credits. Also navigates to the Flamefusion about page, which is not done yet. Media - Allows quick navigation with a media player. Quickly switches between tracks, or adds quick functionality for media players. This supports any media player that also supports a media-button enabled keyboard. Go - Quickly goes back or forward using the keyboard, in a browser or in the current open window, if it supports this functionality. Recent - Browse through recent commands used (only works for the Web and Open command). This function is currently quite buggy in this build. This will be fixed very soon. Support us: If you are an advanced programmer, you can join the Flamefusion group! Remember that we are a non-profit organization (later we might charge people money for addons for the programs we provide if they want additional features, but not as for now). If you are interested, contact [email protected] /* */ and describe your skills. No matter if we are interested in hiring you, we will reply. We program primarily using the .NET Framework languages, but anyone with potential and almost no skill can join. Feedback: If you have an error-report or suggestion you'd like to share, send an email to [email protected] /* */, and describe your error or suggestion there, and we will reply even if we don't like the suggestion or can't confirm the error-report! Special offers: By sending us an email (whether it's an error report, a join form, or a suggestion, and whether we like it or not), you will be awarded free addons for the programs we deliver, and other special offers in the future - You will even be dedicated as a private tester to the upcoming Flamefusion projects - other revolutionary software we are working on.
