Los orígenes del Poker se remontan al año 969 d.C. en China, pero fue durante el período del ?Lejano Oeste?, donde obtuvo gran popularidad en los Estados Unidos, contando con jugadores del talante de "Bill Hitchcock" entre otros. Al "entrar a un bar de cualquier ciudad lo primero que se podía encontrar era una mesa de Poker. El juego pasó a ser extremadamente popular en la época de la Guerra Civil, de hecho los soldados de ambos bandos lo jugaban.
