Written by Heather Bright, Warren Felder, and Harvey Mason, Jr. and produced by Oak for Braxton's sixth studio album Pulse (2010), it was premiered on January 29, 2010 on her official website. Chosen as the album's third official single, it was released on February 23, 2010 on U.S. urban radio stations. The track has since reached number #31 on the U.S. Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Songs chart. Club mixes by Hex Hector are being promoted to the clubs. The music video for "Hands Tied" was directed by Bille Woodruff and shot back-to-back with the video for "Make My Heart," also directed by Woodruff. It was premiered on April 14, 2010 and depicts Braxton as a "woman [who] is teasing a bar full of men who are mesmerized by her moves, but are not allowed to touch her," performing a striptease while pole dancing. Actors Michael Jai White, Eric Balfour, Victor Webster, and Jensen Atwood make cameo appearances in the video. Braxton appeared on The Mo'Nique Show on May 3, a day later the album's release. She performed Hands Tied as well as her classic hit "Breathe Again". She also was on NBC's The Today Show performing Hands Tied and her most successful single "Unbreak My Heart" on the day that the album was released. The song first appeared at #80 on the Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Songs. In its 10th week, the song rose to #31. Pulse is the sixth studio album by American R&B singer–songwriter Toni Braxton, released May 4, 2010, on Atlantic Records. It is her first album in five years and serves as her debut for the Atlantic label after signing a new record deal. Production for the album took place during September 2008 to March 2010 and was handled by several record producers, including David Foster, Harvey Mason, Jr., Frank E, Oak, Lucas Secon, and Dapo Torimiro. Pulse features up-tempo songs and R&B ballads with production varying from smooth to dance-based styles. The album debuted at number nine on the US Billboard 200 chart with first-week sales of 54,000 copies, making it Braxton's fifth US top-ten album. It also entered at number one on Billboard's R&B/Hip-Hop Albums chart. In its second week Pulse drop to number #22 and sold 16,588 in the US. On the third week, the album drop to #41. In Canada, Pulse debuted at number 72 on the Top 100 Albums chart, and in the United Kingdom, it debuted at number 28 on the Top 40 Albums and at number seven on the R&B Albums chart. It entered at number 18 on the German Album Chart, while the song Yesterday entered at number 20 on German Single Charts.
